122:9)

People: Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God. (Psalm 92:13)

Leader: Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house. Lord, I have loved Thy habitation, the place where Thy honor dwelleth. (Psalm 26:8)

People: For the Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before Him.

(Habakkuk 2:20).

Leader: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord my strength and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

Hymn of Praise A.M.E. Hymnal #381There’s Not a Friend

(No, Not One)

There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus -No, not one! no, not one!

None else could heal all our soul's diseases - No, not one! no, not one!

Refrain:Jesus knows all about our struggles,

He will guide till the day is done; There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus -

No, not one! no, not one!

No friend like Him is so high and holy -No, not one! no, not one!

And yet no friend is so meek and lowly -No, not one! no, not one!

[Refrain]

There's not an hour that he is not near us -No, not one! no, not one!

No night so dark but His love can cheer us -No, not one! no, not one!

[Refrain]

Was e'er a gift like the Savior given? No, not one! no, not one!

Will he refuse us a home in heaven? No, not one! no, not one!

[Refrain]

Scripture Lesson(Please Stand for the Reading of God’s Words)

Old Testament Sis. Sharon MorrisonUnison: Isaiah 43:15-19 (The Living Bible) – Get Over Your Past

I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King. I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a path right through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses, to lie beneath the waves, dead, their lives snuffed out like candlewicks. But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I’m going to do!  For I’m going to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Don’t you see it? I will make a road through the wilderness of the world for my people to go home, and create rivers for them in the desert!

New Testament Sis. Aldra AlisonPhilippians 3:12-21 (The Message Bible) – Forgetting and FocusingLeader: I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my

way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me.

People: Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.

Leader: So, let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us.

People: If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.

Leader: Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal.

People: There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and tryingto get you to go along with them.

Leader: I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easystreet. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live theremake their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.

ALL: But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting thearrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.

The Summary of the Decalogue Bro. Isaiah Ringo

LEADER: From all that dwell below the skies…SUNG: From all that dwell below the skies, Let the Creator’s praise arise; Let the Redeemer’s Name be sung, through every land, by every tongue.LEADER: Hear what Christ our Savior saith, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.SUNG: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

The End of the Year Litany

“By Fran Pratt” (Revised for 5th Sunday Service)Leader: “Faithful God, we look back on the year behind us and appreciate Your presence

with us through it. We look ahead at the year before us with hope, and anticipate Your continuing love and the fulfillment of your promises.”

Your kingdom work; more knowledgeable of Your ways; more familiar with Yourspirit; more pliant to your instruction; more willing to give of ourselves to others”

People: Renew in us a clean heart O Lord.

Leader: “We pray for increase of love; of storehouses full of good things to share; of relational harmony and peace; of health; of meaningful work; of balance among work, play, and rest; of personal growth and wisdom; of grateful hearts and most of all, of Your presence and power among us”.

People: Renew in us a clean heart O Lord.

Leader: “May we hear Your voice more clearly, and heed it.May we be aware of the limits of our understanding, and work to expand them.May the words of Christ dwell in us richly.May we be vigilant for those around us who are in need and tend to them.May we experience anew the rebirth and resurrection life of Jesus.May we complete the tasks You set before us, love well those souls You give to our care, and make good use of the time we are given on the earth.”

Everyone: Renew in us a clean heart O Lord so that, we are grateful for Your love, kindness, and care. Amen

Scripture of the Day

No Turning Back. “Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God’s kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.” Luke 9:62

Quote of the Day

“When your past calls, don’t answer. It has nothing new to say.” Author Unknown

Thought of the WeekForget the Past And Focus On Your Goals Instead By RICK WARREN Your past is past. You are not your past. Your past influences you, but your past does not define you. What matters today is not your past. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, who you did it with, or how long you did it. That’s not you. Satan will tell you it’s you, but that’s not the truth. What matters today is what direction your feet are headed right now. If you want to grow, you must stop focusing on your past and focus instead on the future. Focus on what you want, not what you didn’t want to happen to you. Focus on your goal, not your habits. This is why diets don’t work. When you’re on a diet, what are you focused on all the time? Food. You think far more about food on a diet than you do when you’re off the diet. Or take the smoker who wants to quit and says, “One of these days I’m going to give up smoking because I know it’s bad for me.” But the whole time, he’s focusing on what he doesn’t want to do. That keeps you stuck in a rut. You’ve got to focus on something else. This is what Paul talked about in Philippians 3:12: “I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal, but I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that, which is the reason he made me his” (NCV).But also notice what the next two verses say: “I know that I have not yet reached that goal, but there is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead, I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me through Christ to the life above.”Don’t focus on what happened. Focus on what you want to happen. If you insist on driving while looking in the rear view mirror, you’re going to crash. So, stop it! It’s over. If you want to finish the race well, you need to commit to a daily time with God so that you can fill your mind with God’s Word and focus on his goal for your life, not your past.

Humor of the WeekA man died and went to heaven.  He was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter who led him down the golden streets.  They passed stately homes and beautiful mansions until they came to the end of the street where they stopped in front of a rundown cabin. The man asked St. Peter why he got a hut when there were so many mansions, he could live in.  St. Peter replied, “I did the best with the money you sent us.”
