2. GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE COUNTRY
Official Name: Republic of Peru
Area (Km): 1.285.216,20 km2
Coastline (km): 3080 km4
Location: It is a country in the West of South America. The Pacific Ocean borders its coast and borders Ecuador and Colombia to the North, Brazil to the East, and Bolivia and Chile to the Southeast.
Capital: Lima is the capital and the largest city in Peru. It is in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, in the central part of the Peruvian coast, with views of the Pacific Ocean. Together with the seaport of El Callao, it forms an adjoining urban area known as the Metropolitan Region of Lima. With a population of almost 12 million approx. (2017), Lima is the most populous metropolitan region in Peru and the third largest city in Latin America (behind São Paulo and Mexico City).
Weather: The climate is temperate subtropical. The average annual temperature is 18.5 to 19°C, with an annual maximum of approximately 29°C. In winter, from June to September, temperatures vary between 12 and 19°C. The lowest temperature recorded historically is 5°C. Spring has temperatures between 17 and 23°C. Its climate is characterized by the absence of rain, with a high level of humidity and persistent clouds cover.
Exchanges houses: In Lima, the Miraflores neighborhood is full of money exchange houses, as it is the neighborhood where most tourists prefer to stay. It is in Av. Jose Larco where good part of them are located, for that reason there is not much variation in the quotes there. This is also the avenue that is in front of the famous Larcomar Shopping. We also have other recommended exchange houses at Av. Canaval y Moreyra 223, San Isidro and San Felipe Residencial, Jesús María (passing the Japanese Peruvian Theater).

Finance Center – San Isidro
Jockey Plaza Shopping Center - Surco
Parque del Amor - Miraflores
Population: 32.162.184 habitantes.
Languages: The official language is Spanish, but other different native languages are also spoken, such as Quechua and Aymara.
Weather: Unlike other equatorial countries, Peru does not have an exclusively tropical climate; the influence of the Andes and the Humboldt currents grant a great climatic diversity to the Peruvian territory. Currently, in the city of Lima we are in the winter season, so temperatures range between 14° (min.) And 18° (max.). It is recommended to come with comfortable clothes, coats and various garments that can protect the routine changes of temperature for athletes.
Geography: The country is located in the intertropical zone of South America between the Line of Ecuador and the Tropic of Capricorn. It is the twentieth largest country in size on Earth and the third in South America. It has an enormous multiplicity of landscapes due to its geographical conditions: the valleys, the plateaus and the high peaks of the Andes unfold to the West towards the desert coast and East towards the Amazon. It is one of the countries with the greatest biological diversity and largest mineral resources in the world.
Work Plan – 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics Senior Pan American Championships 7
The country has fifty-four hydrographic basins, most of the Peruvian rivers drain from the Andes and one of the three hydrographic slopes of the country. In one of these basins is born the giant Amazon River, which, with its 6872 km, is the longest and mightiest river in the world. Peru contains 4% of the planet's fresh water.
Gastronomy: Peru is one of the countries with the best gastronomic menu worldwide. From various dishes recognized by chefs, world cuisine and gastronomy committees to professional chefs such as Gastón Acurio, Javier Wong, among others, who are part of our impressive poster of one of the main weapons of our country that they offer to the whole world. Taking as examples some typical dishes such as ceviche, arroz con pollo (rice on chicken), pollo a la Brasa (grilled chicken), also counting on Chinese, Japanese and African fusions in various dishes such as arroz chaufa (peruvian fried rice), anticucho de res (marinated meat in a special seasoning based on ají panca (peruvian red pepper), skewered on a cane stick and grilled) and the famous makis. And ending with some of the most delicious desserts of Peruvian culinary culture such as mazamorra morada (the base of purple corn), arroz zambito (rice with brown milk) and refresco bandera, the chica morada (soda).
Work Plan – 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics Senior Pan American Championships 8
Currency: The official currency is the Nuevo Sol, but, it is customary to speak Soles and not nuevos Soles. Exchange rate of the US dollar: PEN 3.27 x USD $ 1 (the rate varies according to the day).
This is a country where the economy favors tourists with US dollars, which is also the easiest currency to exchange in banks and exchange houses. The tickets must be in good condition, without stains, clean and whole. First, change your money always in the exchange houses. They may seem strange and improvised, I know, but that's how they are there. Plaques with "Money Exchange" usually show the places that make the change and your hotel or guide can indicate good places too. The quotation in the big centers changes very little from one exchange house to another, something of 1 or 2 cents of new sun. Therefore, even if you do not get the ideal quote, you should not lose more than 1 or 2 soles per 100 dollars. Before making the change, always ask if the house applies an additional rate on the final value. At the airport that is normal, but outside, this rate may not be charged. Exchange bureaus are usually open at least from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week and a good part of them are open on weekends as well. It's strange, but as a security measure, some exchange houses seal the notes before delivering to customers. The seal is small and does not interfere with anything, it only guarantees that the note is true and that the change was made by them. Even the Nuevo Sol being the currency of Peru, some tourist places can accept Dollars as a form of payment. The most common places that accept payment in that currency are hotels and travel agencies. Some restaurants and shops can also accept. In these two cases, the change is always in soles and the quote is usually not the best one. Traveler's checks are impractical in this country and function more as a security reserve if you are stolen, because they are not easily exchanged: the change is disadvantageous, and the operation of changing banks is delayed. International credit cards are accepted at most hotels with two or more stars, good restaurants and most tourist shops.
Electricity: In Peru 220 volts and 60 cycles are used.
Work Plan – 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics Senior Pan American Championships 9
Plugs and sockets: The plugs to be used in Peru are of type A / B / C
Type C: Valid for Type A: Plug A E and F plugs
Visa and Documents: Only citizens of the following countries require a valid passport and do not require a visa: All citizens of countries of America. Except Cuba.
Tips: In Peru, a tip of 5% -10% of the bill is usually given in restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes. No need to tip taxi drivers. Porters in hotels and airports expect 50 cents for USD $ 1 per suitcase. Tour guides and drivers expect from 5 to 10 soles per day. 3. GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE EVENT
