IRS SCAM LEVERAGES HACKED TAX PREPARES, CLIENT BANK ACCOUNTS Identity thieves who specialize in tax refund fraud have been busy of late hacking online accounts at multiple tax preparation firms, using them to file phony refund requests. Once the Internal Revenue Service processes the return and deposits money into bank accounts of the hacked firms’ clients, the crooks contact those clients directly posing as collection agencies and demand that the money be “returned’. In one version of the scam, criminals are pretending to be debt collection officials acting on behalf of the IRS and threaten recipients with criminal charges if they fail to return the erroneous- ly-depositied money. ”We’re having customers getting refunds that have not applied for,” noting the transfers were traced by to a local tax preparer whose security was compromised. Banks are now working with affected customers to close those accounts and open new ones. “If the crooks have breached a tax preparer and can send money to the client, they can sure enough pull money out of those accounts, too.”

Crack the Code!

Here are three quotes (and their authors) to inspire you in business and life. Of course, you’ll have to do a little work to read them…

Each letter in these quotes has been substituted with a different letter. The same code applies to all three quotes, so if you think K is really E, then fill in the letter E beneath every K. Punctuation has been added to help you. And just to get you started, hint #1: W = T.Hint #2: One of the most common words in every sentence is “THE”.
