I AM PLEASED TO PRESENT THE O’NEAL INDUSTRIES COMMUNITY INVESTMENT REPORT

FOR 2018. Thanks to your contribution to our company’s strong performance in 2018, we were

able to give back to the communities in which we operate in the most generous and meaningful

way ever. My grandfather, Kirkman O’Neal, founded O’Neal on the belief that it was the

company’s responsibility to help improve the quality of life in the local communities in which

we operate; in fact, it is still one of our core values today. We continue that foundation laid by

our Founder by investing in non-profit organizations that support the many causes which will

benefit these communities.

We realize many employees volunteer their time and give

financial support to various causes. Because the need is great

and we can’t support every request, we’ve set specific criteria

for organizations to receive funding. For questions about this,

please see the O’Neal Industries website –

www.onealind.com/community-investment/.

O’Neal Industries established the O’NEAL EMPLOYEE

DISASTER RELIEF FUND in 2013, which is supported by

monetary gifts from O’Neal Industries companies and our

employees. The goal of the Fund is to provide short-term

financial assistance to employees of all O’Neal Industries

companies who have been affected by fires, natural disasters

or other catastrophic events. When financial hardships arise, the Fund helps ONI affiliate

employees, as well as provides a way for co-workers to help one another. Please see

information on how to request assistance or contribute to the fund on page 15 of this report.

We are sharing this information to encourage you to look for opportunities to give of your

time, talent, and resources to community partners who are doing good work in your local area,

and to thank those of you who already support numerous organizations, both by volunteering

and giving of your resources.

Thank you for all you do for our company.

THE BIRMINGHAM EDUCATION FOUNDATION’s (“Ed”) first priority is students. They believe that Birmingham must work as a team to ensure the continued success of students. In order to maximize the collective impact, they listen to a wide variety of voices in decision making. Ed strives to connect and work with a diverse network of Birmingham’s students, families, educators, and the broader community to realize the full potential of students to impact the community. Ed believes that Birmingham’s next great generation of entrepreneurs are sitting in our city’s schools, and commits to trying new and bold ideas, risk-taking and constant improvement, and being a catalyst that inspires others in the community to act.

THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AT BIRMINGHAM’S COLLAT SCHOOL OF BUSINESS offers both online master’s and online bachelor’s degrees that are tailored to shape those with professional experience and those who are looking to start their career. Undergraduate and graduate programs offer an integrated approach toward management and global leadership across seven different industries. U.S. News & World Report ranks UAB’s MBA program among the nation’s best.

ONI companies have hired interns from the school’s Industrial Distribution program for many years.

STAIR is a volunteer-led program that works to improve the reading skills of underserved second graders who were reading below grade level. A hallmark of the STAIR program is the student’s ability to work at their own pace, concentrating on the skills that each student needs to master in order to become a stronger reader. Volunteers work with the same student each week, creating a special bond and building their self-esteem. The results have been excellent – the students served on average have achieved a 107% reading score improvement.

HAYES K-8 SCHOOL is an elementary/middle school literally in the back yard of O’Neal Steel’s Birmingham facility, and only a few miles away from OMS and ONI. Employees of all three companies have partnered with Hayes to provide back packs for students who attended a “Back to School Bash”, lunches for teachers who achieve certain goals, and the end of the year “Field Day”. Hayes has over 900 students, the vast majority of which live in public housing. 85% of the students are on free and reduced lunch.

O’Neal Industries shareholders made a transformational gift to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Alabama – Birmingham (UAB) in 2018. Because of this gift, the center was renamed the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB is among the nation’s leading cancer research institutions and one of only 49 centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. Being routinely recognized as among the nation’s best means the citizens of Alabama have access to the latest therapies, cutting-edge clinical trials and the expertise needed to treat their cancer right in their own backyard. From bench to bedside, the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is at the forefront of improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and scientists and clinician-scientists at UAB have pioneered advances in chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and nutrition. Our community outreach efforts reach vulnerable populations by providing the region with educational and prevention programs. The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a full array of treatment options from multidisciplinary clinics filled with experts from across cancer fields to the latest state-of-the-art technology. The center is home to an outstanding faculty of 400 clinicians, scientists and clinician-scientists, many of whom are internationally and nationally recognized for their expertise in oncology. The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center treats

approximately 20,000 patients annually, with an estimated 5,000 new patients each year. When asked what

motivated the O’Neal family to make this gift, Craft

O’Neal replied, “We saw the gift as an opportunity to give back

in a meaningful way to a cause that is important to everyone. We were motivated by Director Dr. Michael Birrer’s plans for the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center (UAB CCC) and his vision for the future and wanted to provide resources to achieve that vision. His bold and aggressive plans to elevate UAB’s CCC to one of even greater prominence was exciting and something we wanted to be a part of. Our family knows too well the devastating effects of cancer and was motivated by the opportunity to play a role in extending the lives of those with cancer in the region while honoring our family members who have been afflicted by the disease. Lastly, the economic impact our gift would have on Birmingham and our state was important.” Craft also commented that his grandfather, Founder Kirkman O’Neal, and father Emmet O’Neal would be very proud of the family’s generosity. “Without the success of our company, there would be no gift, or certainly not one of this size. My grandfather’s and father’s generations of O’Neal employees laid the foundation for our success. We are thankful and appreciative of all the contributions of our employee teams, loyal customers and supportive suppliers. I hope they will take pride in the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center as well.”
