Shockwave Therapy
SHOCKWAVE THERAPYHIGHLY EFFECTIVE PAIN TREATMENT
BTL Shockwave therapy is a new non-invasive solution for chronic musculoskeletal pain. The Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy is frequently used in physiotherapy, orthopaedics and sports medicine. Applications are mostly associated with the treatment of chronic muscular and tendon disorders, back and cervical pain.
Most common indications include: painful shoulder, epicondylitis, low back pain, Achilles tendon pain, tendonitis and trigger points. During the therapy, a highintensity acoustic wave interacts with the tissues of the body. This leads to a cascade of beneficial eects including neovascularization, reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen production and dissolution of calcium build-up. Stimulation of these biological mechanisms creates an optimal healing environment. As the injured area is returned to normal, functionality is restored and pain is relieved.
The BTL Shockwave is the most powerful and compact Shockwave system on the market. It is supplied with ergonomically shaped applicator with extremely long lifetime.
In 2014, the BTL – 6000 SWT Topline achieved the Red Dot Design Award, one of the most respected worldwide awards in product design. The BTL – 6000 SWT Topline won this coveted award due to its superior functionality, level of innovation, formal design quality and technological expertise.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
• Unique, non-invasive solution for musculoskeletal pain• Just three to four treatments needed at weekly intervals• A therapy session only takes about 10 minutes
FAST AND PERMANENT RELIEF FROM PAIN
• Orthopaedics• Rehabilitation• Sports medicine
Shockwaves are characterized by jump change inpressure, high amplitude and non-periodicity.
The kinetic energy of the projectile, created by compressed air, is transferred to thetransmitter at the end of the applicator.
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
A shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. The energy promotes regenerating and reparative process-es of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.

DECREASE OF MUSCLE TENSION, INHIBITION OF SPASMSHyperaemia is one of the basic eects of Shockwave therapy in the body. It providesbetter energy supply to hypertonic muscles and their ligamentous structures.Furthermore, it causes lessening of pathological interactions between actin andmyosin. This leads to significant reduction of muscle tension.
ENHANCED DISPERSION OF SUBSTANCE PThe activity of Substance P (a pain mediator and growth factor) leads to stimulationof aerent nociceptive fibres. It also supports development of oedema and supportssecretion of histamine. Reduction of substance P concentration reduces pain in theaected area and decreases the development of oedema.
ANALGESIC EFFECT - ELIMINATION OF PAIN
INCREASE OF COLLAGEN PRODUCTIONProduction of a sucient amount of collagen is a necessary precondition for the repairprocesses of the damaged myoskeletal and ligamentous structures.
IMPROVED METABOLISM AND MICROCIRCULATIONThe SWT technology accelerates removal of nociceptive metabolites, increasesoxygenation and supplies damaged tissue with source of energy. It supports removal ofhistamine, lactic acid and other irritating agents.
ACCELERATION OF HEALING
DISSOLUTION OF THE CALCIFIED FIBROBLASTSThe SWT technology dissolves calcified fibroblasts and starts subsequentbiochemical decalcification of primary calcaria or secondary symptoms of arthrosis.
