GRADUATE SURVEY PROCESS In October 2019, a survey was mailed to 315 graduates who graduated between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. These are graduates from undergraduate programs only. Graduates were also given the option of completing the survey online via the Central Penn College website. We learned after the mailing that one graduate was deceased. Thus, the numbers in this report are based on the 314 remaining graduates. Of those 314 graduates, 28 (8.9%) completed and returned the written or online survey. After written and online surveys were received, attempts were made to contact non-respondents via telephone and email. Various other methods were also used to gather employment information from those who still did not respond. Some of those methods included researching social networking sites, internet searches, contacting relatives, accessing various other databases on campus, and surveying faculty/staff. Central Penn follows the First-Destination Survey Standards and Protocols outlined by the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE). In these standards, NACE suggests institutions should strive for a knowledge rate of at least 65%. Central Penn College was successful in obtaining information for 297 of the 314 graduates, resulting in a knowledge rate of 94.6%. It is possible that some jobs listed as employed in the field may not require that specific degree; however, it may be necessary to start one’s career in an entry-level position in order to progress into jobs that do require that degree. It should also be noted that some graduates might no longer be in the position listed by the time this report is published. Although verifying work information directly with employers is not a NACE requirement, Central Penn College believes in taking additional steps to verify the outcomes included in this report. Methods for verifying employment data included phone calls, email, and other direct contact with the employer of record. Of those attempts, the college verified 22.4% of the graduates included in this report directly through the employers. There were only two of those graduates for whom the employer could not verify the employment. Upon further review, we learned that both graduates were in fact working at that organization; however, they were contracted by another company to work there. We then made the appropriate adjustment to the company name in the report. While 90.6% of graduates were employed in their chosen field or continuing their education, it should be noted that 98.3% of graduates were employed in some capacity or continuing their education. Although 5.1% of graduates decided to continue their education as their primary focus within their career path after graduation, there were 21 total graduates continuing their education at least part-time. 14 of those 21 graduates (66.7%) decided to do so at Central Penn College. As noted in the table below, 1.3% of the graduates were not seeking employment. This 1.3% represents graduates who chose to stay at home to provide childcare to their children, are temporarily disabled or are pursuing personal interests. In addition to the graduates not seeking employment, there are several graduates who are working, but not in the career field of their program of study. Some of these graduates disclosed that they are very happy in their current positions and have decided they do not wish to pursue a career in this field at the present time. Thus, there were diverse reasons why some graduates were either not seeking employment or not working in their chosen field at the time of the report.
