Let us all see if we can get at least five of those unfinished projects done in 2011. I’m trying my hardest to get as many projects finished as I can… so much sewing and not enough time. One of the projects I would like to complete, before my grandsons get to be teenagers, is a cowboy-theme quilt. I have one top finished and, if my daughter ever makes up her mind if she wants a full or twin size quilt for my other grandson, I can get to that too. Sometimes I think whoever we are making something for makes our projects unfinished. We had a great Christmas luncheon. The food was great, and I was excited to see so many of you in attendance. Eagle Ranch charms were distributed and I hope it will give those of you who did not receive a charm the incentive to complete three quilts in 2011. Our new guild pins will be distributed starting with paid 2011 membership in January. We still have some board positions to fill. Remember, this is our guild and we are only as good as the people who volunteer their time. We need each and every one of you to be a part of this guild. If you have held a position a few years ago or if you have never held a position, it is time for you to volunteer. Happy Sewing! Diana

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Our new year is about to get under way.

DAY TIME QUILTING BEE Meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, 1:00- 4:00pm, we take turns meeting at each other’s houses. We are a group of 6 to 12 quilters. We bring our own work, usually hand work. We have worked on the Raffle Quilt the last couple of years. New members are always welcome, come join us. For more information call Joan Cunningham at 770-532-2674 for location.

EVENING QUILTING BEE We are continuing the round robin exchange for our Row quilts. We welcome anyone to join us. Bring any project you may be working on. We meet the second Tuesday of the month from 6pm-8 or 8:30pm. Come in the right side door of the church building of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1234 Riverside Drive, Gainesville. Call me if you have questions Judy Wangemann 770-534-5861

December was our Christmas luncheon and we sure had a lot of great food. I don't

know about you, but I think they get better and better every year. We certainly had a good turnout and hope to see all the new faces again in the New Year. Door prizes were won by Karen Bernier, Pat Kilmark, Darlene Brandl, Diana Carrillo, Pat Anderson, Carol Johnson, Kathy Burkes, and Trixie Comfort. I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

January's workshop will be 3-D Dimensional Workshop with Beverly

Mannes from the Mountain Laurel Guild. Most of you will remember this group when they visited us last year with their beautiful quilts. You will need the book More Fabulous Flowers by Sharon K. Baker. I'm giving you this title early so you can buy it before Christmas. The rest of the supplies that you need will be from your stash. If you want Geraniums as some have asked bring fabrics in the colors they want their geraniums - could be red, pink, white, salmon or whatever. You will need two shades for each flower; four or more shades will give a variety of flowers. I'll be bringing hand-dyed graduated fat quarter sets one of our guild members dyes for sale too. So this should be an affordable workshop for right after Christmas.

In February Jeanne Rish from Sew Memorable in Dawsonville will be our speaker. . If you haven't heard Jeanne before, I promise you it will be so memorable. Workshop will be Monday after the meeting and it will be Hunter Star with a ruler. The workshop is FREE. You will have to buy a ruler but Jeanne will bring them with her. You will be able to make either a small table runner or a bed size quilt, your choice.

EAGLE RANCH NEWS

Hi Everyone and Merry Christmas, The good news for Eagle Ranch is we have 21 finished quilts in storage and 3 out to be quilted. We will not have a work day in December, but everyone can still keep quilting. We will probably resume our work days in January, as we want to keep a supply of quilts in storage. Since Diana gave out all those lovely pins to the long-arm quilters and the members who quilted 3 or more quilts in 2010 we are now starting 2011. I don't know what Diana has planned for 2011, but I'm sure she will have something. Thanks a lot for all the members who came to work day and made all the lovely quilts. Hope we will have the same success in the coming year.

The grand total for raffle quilt ticket sales this year was $4542.00!! Thank you everyone for all your hard work and dedication to this project and thank you so much to Judy Wangemann for such a gorgeous quilt. Betty Heathman was our top ticket seller with 395 tickets sold, and we had six other members who sold over 200 tickets each: Sylvia Hulsey, Carol Johnson, Marion Moore, Terry Powers, Judy Wangemann, and Pat Kilmark (Pat also sold over 300!). I really appreciate all of the members who volunteered to take the quilt to various events and to work on ticket sales at all of our shows and festivals. I delivered the quilt to our raffle winner, Karen Fortin of Conyers, GA and she is absolutely thrilled with the quilt! She is a relatively new quilter – she just started about a year ago –she hasn’t decided where she will keep “Land That I Love” yet. She bought her tickets at the Georgia Quilt Show in October and yes, she got 6 for $5! Merry Christmas! Sherry Kaas
