RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. The Society This Company Limited by guarantee shall be known as The Aberchirder & District Horticultural Society. Membership shall be granted to all interested on payment of the Annual Subscription of £12.00.

2. The object of the Society shall be the acquisition and dissemination of Horticultural knowledge and the Sciences relating thereto, and so perform an acceptable part in the social and cultural life in the community in Aberchirder and District.

3. The affairs of the Society shall be conducted by a Committee consisting of The President, The Vice President, The Secretary, The Treasurer and at least twelve elected members. Any five members of the Committee shall constitute a quorum.

The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer shall hold office for one year and shall be eligible for re-election at the Annual General Meeting to be held annually during each calendar year.

4. All funds held by and in the name of the Society shall be applied solely to the aforementioned objects of the Society.

5. A Show shall be held annually in the month of August. Prizes will be awarded for the best exhibits of Flowers, Fruit, Vegetables and in any other sec-tion which the Committee may decide to open to competition.

6. Non-Livestock exhibitors of the Society will be required to pay 40p for each exhibit. Livestock exhibitors of the Society will be required to pay £1.50 for each exhibit. Alternatively, payment of annual subscription of £12 will cover all exhibits entered. Exhibits must be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor for at least 8 weeks prior to the day of the Show. Exhibitors must, if required by the Committee, produce satisfactory evidence of ownership. No two exhibitors may compete in the same section out of the same garden.

7. Exhibits will be accepted at the place of the Show between the hours of 7 pm on Friday evening and 9 am on the appointed day. Each exhibit must bear the official label obtainable from the Secretary, and must show (a Competitors name on the inside and (b) Section and class number of entry as per Schedule on the outside.

8. Judges shall be appointed in advance by the Committee. Such judges shall have special powers to withhold prizes where, in their opinion the exhibits are not up to the desired standard. The decision of the Judges shall be final.

9. Non-Livestock competitors may submit ONLY ONE EXHIBIT PER CLASS, unless otherwise stated. Prize will be paid as per class, except where stated. Money and Points will be awarded for first to third places.

10. Special prizes will not count for most points prizes.

11.Any Exhibit, which is not according to schedule, will be disqualified.

12. Prizes may be withheld when exhibits are deficient in quality or condition.13. In the event of a tie for Most Points Prize, the competitor with the most

First Prizes shall be adjudged the winner.14. Members of the Public shall be admitted to the Show between the

hours of 12.00 noon and 5 pm on payment of £5.00, Children under 14 years £1.00 and members of the Society shall be admitted by free ticket furnished by the Secre-tary.

15. No person shall, on any pretext, be admitted to the Show prior to its be-ing opened to the public, except those appointed by the Committee to take charge of the arrangements. No exhibits shall be removed from the show before 4.45 pm(Except Livestock which can be removed from 4 pm).

16. While the Society cannot and will not accept responsibility for the loss of or damage to any exhibit, every possible precaution will be taken against loss and damage.

17. Complaints must be lodged in writing with the Secretary before 2 pm on the day of the Show. £1.00 must accompany every complaint but, in the event of the Committee finding justification for such complaint, the payment shall be re-funded; otherwise the payment shall be forfeited.

18. The Committee may, at their discretion, instruct the inspection of the garden of any competitor.

19. Persons found to obtain prizes by unfair or fraudulent means shall forfeit all prizes gained and be banned from all future competitions

20. In the event of any dispute, the Committee’s decision shall be final.

21. All pieces of Plate and other Trophies not won outright must be returned to the Secretary by 20th July, 2017.

22. Prize money to be collected on day of Show between the hours of2.30pm - 4.30 pm (or from the Treasurer before 31st August, 2017).

23. Trophies will be presented at 3.30 pm. Winners are responsible for the care of trophies while in their possession.

Health & SafetyThe Association accepts its responsibilities under the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 and actively seeks the full

understanding and co-operation of all persons involved in, or attending the Show for their commitment in maintaining as

safe an environment as possible for all.
