Vertical Cure Background

• Vertical Cure is an event developed to create awareness of Scleroderma as

well as raise money to fund research for the rare tissue disease.

• Each participant is challenged to collect pledges based on the vertical feet

they ski during the event. To calculate the descents, Suunto altimeter

watches are provided to everyone participating.

• The event idea was created by Chris Corman and his close friend Phil

Delurgio while riding up a ski lift in Whistler, Canada. Both of their mom’s

suffer from the rare Scleroderma disease.

• Vertical Cure has been held at Mammoth Mountain every April since 2002.
