ALPACA AND ALPACA FLEECESWhile alpacas have been farmed in South America for thousands of years

their introduction to Australia took place only 26 years ago. Today there are

200,000 alpacas in Australia with the industry focussing on the development

of a robust breeding program to underpin quality fleece production and meet

local and international demand.

ALPACAGENERAL SHOW REGULATIONS

The Society’s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions regulate the conduct of the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show. Upon acceptance of an entry the Exhibitor is irrevocably contracted to be bound by those General Show Regulations and Section Conditions.

A copy of the Society’s General Show Regulations may be obtained on application or from the website http://perthroyalshow.com.au/general-regulations.

The following Section Conditions are applicable to all Exhibitors entering exhibits in the Alpaca and Alpaca Fleece Section.

An Exhibitor who breaches any General Show Regulation or Section Condition may be disqualified, or suspended for any period, fined or otherwise penalised.

The Society may publish to:

a) all Royal Show Societies in Australia;b) the relevant Breed Society; andc) the body with which the Exhibit is registered, or

is eligible for registration, the result of any proceedings before the Disciplinary Committee in which a Person has been found to have breached any General Show Regulation or Section Condition.

The Society may recognise and act upon any penalty imposed by any other similar society, organisation or body in Australia on any person or exhibit. It is in the Exhibitors best interests to carefully read all conditions.

PROTESTS AGAINST AWARDS:An Exhibitor or Competitor may protest against an award won by an exhibit or Competitor, alleging breach of the Society’s General Show Regulations or Section Conditions or ineligibility.

A protest must be made in writing, giving reasons for the protest and signed and submitted to the Councillor in Charge not more than one hour after the completion of the judging of the event or competition.

Such protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $50.00 which may be forfeited to the Society if in the opinion of the Councillor in Charge the protest is unfounded, frivolous or vexatious.

If an exhibit is awarded a prize and is subsequently disqualified the prize will not automatically be awarded to the next placegetter. The final decision will be at the discretion of the Judge.

Any prize money awarded for an event, which is the subject of protest, shall be retained by the Society until the protest has been resolved.

DANGEROUS, OBJECTIONABLE OR DISEASED EXHIBITS:The attention of Exhibitors is drawn to the Society’s General Show Regulation 4.7 and 4.8, with reference to dangerous, objectionable or diseased exhibits.

INSURANCE: The Owner/Exhibitor is responsible for the insurance of his or her exhibit whilst the exhibit is on the Society’s Showground.

PRIZE MONEY:RASWA has a policy whereby all prize money is paid by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). Your banking details will be kept secure and can only be used by RASWA to credit your bank account. Please complete your account details on the entry form even if you have provided them previously. In accordance with the rules of the competition, failure to provide your bank details will mean that any prize money you earn will be forfeited and retained by RASWA.

Prize money as stated in the schedule does not include GST. The prize money which the Society pays to successful Exhibitors ("you") depends on the information that you provide to the Society.

If you confirm that you are GST registered and provide your Australian Business Number (ABN) the Society will pay the appropriate prize money plus 10% GST. The Society will provide to you a Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI) within 28 days of the day you were successful at your event, detailing the GST which you will need to submit to the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

If any adjustments need to be made, the Society will issue an adjustment note to you within 28 days of the adjustment. Upon entry into the competition and completion and signing of the application form, this form will become a RCTI agreement as required under (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999.

Furthermore, you acknowledge your agreement to the following:

• The Society will issue you a tax invoice in respect of the successful exhibit;

• You are requested not to issue a tax invoice to the Society in respect to prize money received;

• It will be necessary for you to notify the Society if you cease to be registered for GST; and

• The Society will notify you if it ceases to satisfy any of the requirements of the determinations.

If you provide your ABN but are not registered for GST, the Society will pay the prize money as detailed in the prize schedule.

If you are a business Exhibitor and do not provide your ABN to the Society, you will have 46.5% tax deducted from our prize money under the ATO PAYG provisions.

If you confirm that you are entering as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby, the Society will pay the prize money as detailed in the prize schedule.

LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY:The Society shall not be liable for any damages, costs, claims, expenses or liabilities arising from the withdrawal of an exhibit. Refer also to the Society’s General Show Regulation 17 Liability and Indemnity.

PROMOTION:No advertising or promotion on behalf of commercial business will be permitted on the Showground without the prior written consent of the Society’s Chief Executive Officer.

PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT:The information provided by the Exhibitor in the application for entry is collected and used by the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (RASWA) to organise and conduct Competitions at the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show. We may publish details such as your name, address and exhibit details in any RASWA publication or communication. Such information may also be made available to, and published by, the media. We will not disclose your information without your consent for any other purpose unless required or authorised by law. You may request access to your personal information and, if necessary,request that our records of that information be corrected by writing to the Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, PO Box 135, Claremont WA 6910.

SECTION CONDITIONS

1. REFUND OF ENTRY FEES:

No refunds will be given for Livestock exhibits except where the Society has excess entries in a section or class and is unable to accommodate them.

If an exhibit is withdrawn, rejected or disqualified by the Society for any reason, other than the Society’s General Show Regulation 3.18, the entry fee will NOT be refundable.

2. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

Any Exhibitor giving an incorrect description of his or her exhibit with the intention of deceiving or defrauding the Society shall be disqualified from exhibiting at any future Perth Royal Shows.

The Society may, at its sole discretion, require an Exhibitor to make a Statutory Declaration regarding his or her own exhibits.

The Society may, at its sole discretion, withdraw, reject or disqualify an exhibit. Refer to the Society’s General Show Regulation 3.18.The Royal Agricultural Society reserves the right to combine colour classes if there are insufficient entries in any one class.

3. ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all registered Alpaca Breeder.

No companion animals are permitted other than Crias. The registered Owner of an exhibit (including wethers) must be a financial member of the AAA Ltd. A person or stud who, at the time of the Show, is not the person or stud in whose name the animal is registered on the IAR, is ineligible to exhibit that animal (with the exception of Wethers). All fleeces being exhibited (including Wether fleeces) must be the bona fide property of an AAA Ltd member.

4. REGISTRATION

Alpacas must be registered in a recognised Herd Book. The registered number of the animal together with full breeding details of sire and dam must be provided with each entry. A copy of the AAA Pedigree Registration Certificate for each Alpaca entered must be attached to the entry form.

Even though Wethers do not have to be registered, they must have an IAR tag.

5. AGE OF EXHIBITS:

The age of an animal is taken on the first day of the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show, 23 September 2017.

6. WITHDRAWAL OF EXHIBIT:

A Veterinary certificate must be provided to the Society if an exhibit is withdrawn due to illness or injury.

To assist with penning planning, Exhibitors must notify the Alpaca Competition and Event Coordinator of any withdrawals by [email protected] at least two weeks before the first day of Show.

7. FLEECE DELIVERIES:

Fleeces must be delivered to Tree Change and Goldleaf by 5.00pm, Sunday 3 September 2017. Only one fleece that has been shorn in the 18 months prior to the Show may be shown from any one animal.

8. FLEECE LENGTHS FOR SHOWING:Alpacas must have a minimum fleece length of 50mm for Huacaya and 75mm for Suri. It is recommended that maximum fleece length be no more than 130mm for Huacaya. Suri fleece lengths will be assessed by the Judge.

9. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE:

Alpaca exhibitors will not gain entry into the Show grounds before 5.00pm and must have a livestock release authority form to gain permission to leave the Showground once entered.

Exhibitors are to enter through gate 8 and exit out gate 8a.

Exhibitors are to arrive and depart at the following times:

Arrive:Friday 22 September 3.00pm - 7.30pmSaturday 23 September 6.00am - 8.00am

RASWA Veterinarian authorisation is required for sick or stressed animals to depart the Showground earlier than the stated time.

Departure:Tuesday 26 September 2017 5.00pm and 7.00pm no later/no earlier.

All alpaca Exhibitors must follow these strict time lines to assist with the smooth running of arrivals anddepartures.

Exhibitors may remove some/all alpacas from the Showground on Tuesday 26 September 2017 between 5.00pm and 7.00pm. Exhibitors are encouraged to bring replacement alpacas for display. Replacement alpacas may be delivered on Wednesday 27 September 2017 between 6.00am and 8.00am.

10. PREGNANT FEMALES:

Exhibitors may take pregnant females from the Showground at the completion of judging on Sunday 24 September 2017.

An ultrasound certificate confirming pregnancy must be produced to the Councillor in Charge or Chief Steward who will authorise any departures.

RASWA Veterinarian authorisation is required for sick or stressed animals to depart the Showground earlier than the stated time.

11. ACCESS TO THE SHOWGROUND:

Exhibitors will be issued with a vehicle sticker to deliver exhibits during Show hours. All passengers in the vehicle (excluding driver) must present a ticket or Multi Entry pass. Drivers are required to enter through Gate 8 (off Ashton Avenue), turn left into Moore Avenue and proceed around into the unloading area at the rear of the Tom Wilding Pavilion to deliver their exhibits. Please do not delay in the unloading area. Drivers must exit the Showground through Gate 8A.

12. TICKETS:

Exhibitors will be issued the following number of Multi Entry passes depending on the number of exhibits entered.

1 - 4 exhibits = 2 Multi Entry passes5 - 8 exhibits = 3 Multi Entry passes8+ exhibits = 4 Multi Entry passes

13. PAVILION OPENING TIMES:

The Tom Wilding Pavilion will be open to the public from 9.00am to 6.00pm daily.

14. JUDGING

Location: Tom Wilding Pavilion.

Fleeces: Saturday 23 September 2017 at 9.00am.

Alpacas: Sunday 24 September 2017 and Monday 25 September 2017 at 9.00am.

Junior Handlers: Monday 25 September 2017

Best Colour: Monday 25 September 2017

15. FEED:

Will be the Exhibitor’s responsibility.

16. FEED LOCKERS:

A limited number of lockers will be available and will be allocated by the Chief Steward on arrival at the Showground. Sharing may be necessary.

17. ADVERTISING AND SIGNAGE:

Stud promotional signage may be displayed on pens from the first day of the Show. Advertising material must not exceed the height of the pen.

No animal ‘For Sale’ signage is to be displayed on pens.

18. TROPHIES

Perpetual trophies are to be returned to the Society at the conclusion of Show. Replica trophies are the property of the Exhibitor.

19. JUNIOR HANDLERS COMPETITION:

Entries must be lodged on the RASWA entry form. Entries will not be accepted on the day of Judging.

Exhibitor tickets will be forwarded to the contact person on the entry form.

The age of the handler is taken on the first day of the Show, Saturday 23 September 2017.

20. MOVEMENT OF STOCK TO WA/JOHNE’S DISEASE (JD):

There are strict requirements for bringing livestock into WA. A completed Health Certificate for Movement of Stock to Western Australia (Form LB1), available from the Department of Agriculture and Food WA, must accompany each consignment of livestock en route into WA. It contains all entry requirements for livestock and is used to certify that livestock meet these requirements.

21. NATIONAL VENDOR DECLARATION (NVD/WAYBILL):

Whenever livestock leave a property, movement documentation must be provided. A Waybill, a combined National Vendor Declaration (NVD/Waybill) or permit must show where the movement commenced and finished, including the property identification code (PIC) of both properties.

The Exhibitor is responsible for ensuring that the original copy of the NVD/Waybill or permit is delivered to the Chief Steward upon arrival.

22. VERIFICATION / INSPECTION OF TYPE, DESCRIPTION AND ELIGIBILITY:

Each exhibit may be subject to inspection and/or examination by an Inspector or Inspectors appointed by the Society.

The Alpaca Association will nominate to the Society two names of persons qualified to act as Inspectors in order to facilitate the appointment of an Inspector or Inspectors by the Society for the purpose of the Society’s General Show Regulation 3.18.

The Inspector/s appointed must submit to the Society, in writing, a complete report of his/their findings immediately after the completion of the inspection.

23. VETERINARY SERVICES:

Veterinary Officer will be on call throughout the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show to provide services to injured or sick Livestock. Exhibitors requiring services will be responsible for payment for all services rendered.

24. The Veterinary Office and Medication Control Centre is

located at the corner of Edgar Avenue and the Cattle Lanes.

The duty Veterinary Officer can be contacted 24 hours a day, through the Asset Service’s Office Phone Extension No’s. 6263 3161 or 6263 3146. Asset Service can also be contacted on 6263 3127 after 9.00pm each night.

25. RIBBONS:

Ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the Judges.

HELPFUL TIPS

Exhibitors can visit the Show website at www.perthroyalshow.com.au where an electronic version of the schedule and entry form can be printed off.

• Read through the Schedule and highlight the classes of interest to you.

• Check the criteria for the classes carefully, including the notes at the top of each section in case amendments have been made since the previous Show.

• Check the closing date of entries to allow sufficient time to gather and complete the information required on the entry form.

• Complete the relevant competition entry form as clearly as possible either typed or hand written (printed) and be sure to sign and date it.

• Attach copies of pedigrees that are required.• If you are paying for your entry by cheque please

ensure it is made payable to the Royal Agricultural Society of WA.

• Make sure all credit card details are correct and clearly identifiable on the entry form along with the signature of the credit card holder.

• Make a note of the arrival dates and times for exhibits as these can vary from year to year.

• If you have any questions regarding the classes or information in this Schedule please contact the Councillor in Charge or the Competition and Event Coordinator, who will assist you with your enquiry.

HUACAYASECTION CONDITIONS

1. CORRECT ANIMAL COLOUR:

An Alpaca is to shown in the appropriate colour class, when it is predominantly that colour. Any colour variations will be assessed at the Judge’s discretion.

A Fancy Alpaca is to be shown in the Fancy Class if it has an unusual or striking distribution of colour e.g. different colour saddle markings.

A predominantly grey Alpaca (grey, rose grey/roan) is to be shown in a grey Class, whether or not it has any other coloured spots present, and any colour variations will be assessed a the Judge’s discretion.

2. CLASSES:

Note: Classes may be split or joined to the most suitable age/colour if numbers warrant. No Huacaya is eligible to compete for Championships in the Suri Classes.

Huacaya 12 months and older must be shorn regularly so that no more than 15 months fleece is carried at the time of showing.

NOTE: Huacaya Junior Ages Classes Section 1 and 2 may now be split in two IF there are 15 or more entries in any one colour class. That division becomes 6 to 9 months, and 9 to under 12 months.

ANIMAL / LIVESTOCK OWNERS / EXHIBITORSPUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (“Society”) has a Public Liability insurance policy in the interests of Owners / Exhibitors of Animals / Livestock entering competitions in accordance with the Society’s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions.

INSURED PARTIES:

Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) of Animal / Livestock Exhibits upon payment of Entry fees and provided such Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) comply with all requirements herein togetherwith the Society’s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions. Failure to comply may render the Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) personally liable for any claims that may arise as a result of any incident to which they may have contributed.

PERIOD OF INSURANCE:

For the period the Animals / Livestock are on the Society’s Claremont Showground, Claremont, Western Australia for the purposes of the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show.

INSURED ACTIVITIES:

Society’s Claremont Showground, Claremont, Western Australia consistent with the (Business) Insured Parties’ Animal / Livestock Exhibit activity.

DESCRIPTION OF COVER:

Insurance in respect of the Insured Parties’ liability to pay costs and compensation in respect of loss of, or damage to, third party property and death of, or injury to, third party persons caused by, and arising out of, the Insured Parties’activities, all subject to the Society’s policy terms, conditions, exclusions and warranties etc.

AMOUNT OF COVER:

$150,000,000 any one occurrence.

Excess: $10,000 each and every claim.

It should be noted that the payment of the excess in the event of a claim is the responsibility of the Owner/s /Exhibitor/s.

GENERAL SHOW REGULATION 17. LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY(Extract from the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia

17.1 Exhibitor Accepts The lodgement of an Application of Entry form shall be deemed to be acknowledgment by the Exhibitor of his or her agreement that the Society shall be under no liability for:

17.1.1 No Liability for animals or birds Exhibited The loss, injury or death of any animal, (including birds) Exhibited, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.2 No Liability for property Exhibited Any loss or damage occasioned to or by any property Exhibited, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.3 No Liability for other animals, property, Exhibitor or general public Any injury or damage occasioned to any other animal or property Exhibited, or to any other Exhibitor, or to the general public, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.4 No Liability for contracting any disease or suffering animals or birds Any loss or damage suffered by any Exhibitor as a result of any disease contracted or suffered by any animals (including birds) after, or as a consequence of any animal Exhibits, or their progeny, being brought onto the Showground.

17.4 Accidents and Incidents Competitors, Exhibitors and Attendants must report promptly to the Society all accidents and incidents causing or likely to cause injury to persons or damage to property.

17.5 Trade Practices Act To the extent that any matter relating to entry or remaining upon the Showground relates to the supply of goods or services by the Society within the meaning of s. 68A of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cwlth), the Society’s liability is limited as follows:

(a) in case of goods, the replacement, repair or payment for the replacement or repair of the goods. (b) in the case of services, the re-supply of the services or the cost of the re-supply of the services.

It shall be in the Society’s absolute discretion as to whether it replaces, repairs or pays for replacement or repair of goods. It shall be further in the Society’s discretion as to whether it re-supplies or pays the cost of re-supply or services.

17.6 Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law, each Competitor

from and, against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without

(a) loss, damage or injury to any person in

1. The object of the Governor’s Cup award is to encourage Exhibitors to compete with the highest quality pedigree breeding Exhibits and reward both excellence and consistency throughout the whole range of their Exhibits.

Australian Exhibitors. Government Institutions including Agricultural Schools and Colleges are eligible to compete.

3. ALL ANIMALS ARE TO BE ENTIRE E.G. GELDINGS AND SPAYED MARES ARE NOT ALLOWED.

4. Sections and Breed Classes in which points can be gained are as follows with exclusions as stated:

ALPACA: First, Second and Third prize winners from all Single Pen Classes, excluding Group and Special Classes.

CATTLE: First, Second and Third prize winners from all Single Pen Classes, excluding Progeny, Group and Special Classes.

GOATS: First, Second and Third prize winners from all Single Pen Classes, excluding Progeny and Group Classes.

HORSES: First, Second and Third prize winners from all Single Pen Classes, excluding Ridden, Group and Special Classes.

SHEEP: First, Second and Third prize winners from all Single Pen Classes and Pairs, but excluding Novice, Group and Special Classes.

5. All livestock Exhibits must be either:

(a) Bred by the Exhibitor, or owned, leased or syndicated by the Exhibitor for a minimum of 6 months as at the date of judging and provide proof of the transaction by way of receipts or registration papers. (b) Exhibited by the original owner under arrangement with the purchaser.

6. (a) The Exhibitor can enter all Classes in their breed section, but the maximum number of Classes for which an Exhibitor will gain Governor’s Cup points are from the highest scoring 10 Single Pen Classes.

Cup will be jointly awarded.

7. An EXHIBIT is DEFINED, for the purposes of this award, as follows:

(a) As per Single Pen Classes. AN EXHIBIT MAY ONLY RECEIVE POINTS ONCE.

8. Points will be allotted as follows: First 4 points Second 2 points Third 1 point

If an Exhibitor has multiple placing’s within a Class then all placing points will be included in the total for that Class.

Championships will NOT be included unless the circumstances below apply:-

9. Points will not be allocated unless at least TWO EXHIBITORS participate in each Class except in the event of the animal going on to win a Championship or Reserve Championship with competition, in which case points scored on the Governor’s Cup Scale will be awarded for the original Class in which the animal competed.

If an animal has not been awarded any Governor’s Cup points because it faced no competition in its breed or section, but that animal goes on to win an award with competition, points scored on the Governor’s Cup Scale will be awarded for the original Class in which the animal competed.

10. Livestock Sections should address a means of promoting excellence within their respective areas. It will lead to competition across the sections.

11. Declaration on Entry form: To be eligible for participation in the Governor’s Cup Competition you must have signed the Declaration on the Entry form to acknowledge that you have read all the Rules and Regulations governing the Governor’s Cup Competition and you agree to abide by them.
