— 2017 Presentation Topics — Session I | Friday, June 2 | 6:45 to 8 p.m. Kevin Adams - “Night Photography” What is there to shoot at night? Photographer Kevin Adams is often asked that question — and is always astounded. The answer is everything! But even if you’ve photographed at night before, Adams show you how to shoot subjects in ways you never thought possible. He does offer a warning, though. After you learn about all the exciting things you can do with your camera at night, you won’t be getting much sleep from then on. You may start to live by Adams’ mantra, “It ain’t over till the sun comes up!” This program will feature lots of new images, shown for the first time, and new techniques that Adams has never spoken about before. Session II | Saturday, June 3 | 4 to 5:15 p.m. Kendall Chiles - “The Beauty of the Macro World” This program is designed to both inspire and educate the viewer of the beauty and details of the macro world. This macro world is everywhere around us — if we take the time to explore it. Everyone knows about the wonderful photo opportunities available in national/state parks and forests, but many people do not realize what can be found in their own yard. This pro- gram will cover the basics of close-up photography, such as magnification factor, working distance and background control. It will also cover the specialized equipment for close-up photography, such as macro lenses, extension tubes, diopters and focusing rails. Session III | Saturday, June 3 | 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Charles Glatzer - “Metering Demystified” Meter Patterns determine exposure. Priority Modes change variables. All Metering Patterns and methods will work, some are simply easier to implement than others in certain circumstances. When photographing wildlife, the difference in cap- turing a mediocre image or the image of a lifetime often comes down to fleeting seconds. Learn how, why and when to use the various patterns and modes to your best advantage. The advantages and detriments of Manual and Av priority modes will be covered at length. Easy-to-remember exposure tips and techniques will be provided. The ultimate goal is to put creative control back into the hands of the photographer instead of the camera. This short seminar will forever simplify your photography. SESSION IV | Sunday, June 4 | 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Mary Presson Roberts - “FINDING YOUR VISION” Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by images. Technology has made it possible for more and more people to be- come photographers. With so many images and so many people taking pictures, it is more important than ever to make images that stand out. In this presentation, award-winning photographer Mary Roberts will share what she has learned on her path with photography. She will include things that are needed (in addition to gear), ways to approach a new sub- ject, steps you can take to continue to grow as a photographer and how to produce creative work that will stand out in a crowd. In sharing steps taken on her path, she hopes to inspire others to make and take the next steps on their photographic journeys. SESSION V | Sunday, June 4 | 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. David Marx - “It’s About Time-Lapse” Time-lapse photography is a fascinating new skill for the digital landscape photographer. Time-lapse videos accelerate the passage of time and present a unique way to bring fresh energy to an otherwise predictable scene. In this lecture, we will explore how to shoot a sequence of images for time-lapse photography using the camera that you already own. Next, we will discuss how to turn your image sequence into a video using simple buttons in Adobe Photoshop CC.
