FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Thank you to all who participated in the 2016 Eisteddfod which was a resounding success. It was exciting to welcome Gareth Elis from the Llangollen Welsh Eisteddfod to our “Musicale” Concert on October 15th. Gareth won the International Voice of Musical Theatre and his performance was greatly appreciated. I am pleased to say that we will again have the winner of this section appear at our Concert on October 15th. The new Grants and Awards were very well received and we congratulate those who were winners along with each and every performer whose talents continue to amaze. We had 152 Primary and Secondary Schools participate in one or more genres last year and a huge thank you to the many principals and teachers who are dedicated to showcasing their outstanding performers via the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. In some areas, record numbers of entries were received and we now look forward to the same response in 2017. Thanks also go to the parents for encouraging the young dancers, singers and musicians – we hope your reward is seeing them on stage and giving their all. We now approach our 36th Eisteddfod and look forward to seeing many past competitors as well as welcoming those who may never before have participated. We wish all entrants a happy and beneficial time spent at the Eisteddfod – in our eyes, every performer is a winner! Best of luck Kerry Watson
