Wayne State University Aleanna Siacon Siacon is a senior at Wayne State University where she is a double major in Journalism and Political Science. She works for Wayne State’s student newspaper, The South End, as a writer and photographer. Siacon has completed internships with Gannett’s Democrat and Chroniclein Rochester, N.Y, with USA Todayand with Hour Detroitand Metro Parentmagazines in the Detroit area, as well as servicing as a social media intern for Detroit City Council. She is also the recipient of several awards including the Rosa L. Parks Scholar from the Detroit News and the Chips Quinn Scholar from the Newseum Institute. Central Michigan University Emma Dale Dale is a senior at Central Michigan University where she majors in Journalism and Political Science. She works for the university’s newspaper, Central Michigan Life, as the current News Editor. A 2017 intern for the Grand Haven Tribune, Dale seeks to continue expanding her writing and reporting skills. Grand Valley State University Emily Doran Doran is a senior at Grand Valley State University where she majors in Spanish with a minor in writing. Western Michigan UniversityKori LeightonLeighton is a senior at Western Michigan University where she is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Global and International Studies. She is currently a staff writer for the Western Herald, where she has worked since 2016.

Oakland University Laurel KrausKraus is a junior at Oakland Univeristy where she studies Journalism with a minor in communication. She is currently a staff writer for The Oakland Post.

Michigan State UniversityMichael EppsEpps is a junior at Michigan State University where he majors in Journalism. He is a Senior Producer for the J-School’s newscast, Focal Point, a reporter for the Spartan Sports Report, as well as a sports reporter for Impact 89FM, MSU’s student radio station. Epps also freelances for The Detroit News, is a camera operator for the Detroit Lions, and a sports video freelancer for WLNS-TV (Lansing). Epps was a 2017 recipient of the Ed Bradley Gifted Broadcaster Scholarship Award.

Northern Michigan UniversityNoah HausmannHausmann is a senior at Northern Michigan University where he studies English Writing with a minor in Journalism. He is currently the Features Editor for NMU’s student newspaper, The North Wind, as well as a contributing writer for the Marquette Monthly, and a part-time announcer for the Gospel Opportunities radio network.

Eastern Michigan UniversityMalaya Elgarico Elgarico is a junior at Eastern Michigan University where she is a double major in Journalism and Media Studies and Communication Studies. She is a staff writer and digital media editor with EMU’s student newspaper, Eastern Echo. Elgarico was awarded the Echo’s Best Feature Story for 2016-2017.

Albion CollegeBeau BrockettBrockett is a junior at Albion College where he studies Engligh - Creative Writing. He is the current Managing Editor for the college newspaper, Albion Pleiad, which he has worked for since 2015.

Olivet CollegeBrian FreibergerFreiberger is a junior at Olivet College where he majors in Mass Communicatin and Journalism. He is the current editor for Olivet College’s student newspaper, The ECHO. Freiberger also worked as an intern for the South County News, creating over 17 stories and 100 photos in print and online for the publication.

Hillsdale CollegeKatherine ScheuScheu is a senior at Hillsdale College where she is obtaining her B.A. in French. She is currently an associate editor and graphic designer for the college’s Hillsdale Collegian, where she previously worked as the Assistant Culture Editor. Scheu also worked for USA Today in 2017 as an intern in Tennessee.
