Orientation

● MAGTF provides two two-week fleet immersion experiences for midshipmen with a unit of the operating forces.

● The program serves as a recruiting tool for midshipmen interested in service-selecting the Marine Corps.

● Participation in MAGTF does not meet the requirement of Leatherneck attendance for service selection as a 1/C.

Situation

● Block 1: Camp Lejeune / MCAS New River / MCAS Cherry Point / MCAS Beaufort

○ 60 midshipmen

● Block 2: Camp Lejeune / MCAS New River / MCAS Cherry Point / MCAS Beaufort

○ 67 midshipmen, 1 USMA cadet

● Block 3 East: Camp Lejeune / MCAS New River / MCAS Cherry Point / MCAS Beaufort

○ 23 midshipmen

● Block 3 West: Camp Pendleton○ 11 midshipmen

■ 7 midn from PROTRAMID block 2■ 4 midn van to BWI - Com Air to SAN

Mission

● The mission of the MAGTF Summer Training Program is to recruit midshipmen by exposing them to Marine Corps operational forces and the responsibilities of company grade officers so that they may further assess the Marine Corps as their service choice. Midshipmen will be assigned to Marine units based in MCB Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River, MCAS New River, and MCAS Beaufort during blocks 1, 2, and 3. Midshipmen will be assigned to Marine units based in MCB Camp Pendleton during block 3.

Execution

● Midshipmen will be received at training location by PROTRAMID/MAGTF MLOs

● MEF-tasked units provide company-grade officers as sponsors○ Midshipmen remain with sponsor for two weeks then rotate to a different unit for two weeks

● Midshipmen are provided a cruise guide of tasks to accomplish with sponsoring unit, intended to increase understanding of the unit’s mission and role in the MAGTF

● You are expected to participate in unit training and activities to the maximum extent during MAGTF

Admin & Logistics

● Transportation: Muster NLT 30 minutes prior to departure○ Block 1 bus departs at 0400 on 30 May (Tues after Memorial Day) from Mid Store

parking lot■ Return bus departs Camp Lejeune at 1200 on 23 June

○ Block 2 bus departs at 0400 on 26 Jun (Mon) from Mid Store parking lot■ Return bus departs Camp Lejeune at 1200 on 21 July

○ Block 3E bus departs at 0400 on 24 Jul (Mon) from Mid Store parking lot■ Return bus departs Camp Lejeune at 0800 on 16 Aug

○ Block 3W van to BWI departs at time TBD on 23 Jul (Sun) from Mid Store parking lot; after arrival, muster at San Diego airport USO for bus to Camp Pendleton

■ Return will be coordinated with MLO based on travel arrangements

Admin & Logistics● Midshipman-in-Charge (MiC) will pick up orders for their block NLT the day prior to

departure○ Contact Summer Training Duty Officer at (410) 980-9078 to coordinate

● At 1800 the evening prior to departure the MiC will pick up box meals○ Box Meals can be picked up at the double doors by room D101 in the 3rd wing basement

● MiC will distribute orders, cruise guides, and chow the night prior to departure● MIDN will muster NLT 30 minutes prior to departure

○ MiC will take accountability and contact the STDO and MLO with any discrepancies● Individual Gear will be issued on first day, MIDN are responsible for returning all

gear at conclusion of training block● MIDN will use chow hall for all meals● Billeting provided by units, expect barracks

during movement to/from the training event. The MiC will act as group leader and ensure good order and discipline are maintained throughout movement to the training site. The MiC will be provided a roster of midshipmen prior to departure.

Cruise Guides● The MAGTF Cruise Guides have a list of tasks to be accomplished by MIDN

during MAGTF, broken down by ACE, GCE, and LCE-specific checklists.● Your sponsor can assist you with making contact with personnel or sections

required for completing tasks.● Completion will be verified after the end of summer training.● MIDN assigned to MHG units will complete the GCE/LCE checklist.

● You, not your sponsor, are responsible for completion of the MAGTF Cruise Guide checklists.

Expectations of Midshipmen● You represent the U.S. Naval Academy to the public and the Marines of your units.● Your priority is to understand the mission of your unit and its role in the MAGTF.

● Conduct○ You will act as professionals and future officers○ You will address each other and Marines by their rank and last name○ When in uniform, salutes will be rendered to all officers whether they are in uniform or not○ You will be respectful and professional when interacting with enlisted personnel ○ Be in the right place, in the right uniform, on time, and with notetaking gear○ Communicate - treat your sponsor like your Company Officer

● Uniforms○ Travel in summer whites, with correct midshipman rank insignia○ Normal working uniform will be NWUs, no wrinkles, correct rank insignia, polished boots

Expectations of Midshipmen● Appearance

○ Personal grooming maintained within midshipman regulations at all times○ Males will have a fresh haircut prior to travel and at start of each week○ Appropriate USMC liberty attire

■ Follow local & unit SOP■ No revealing clothing or exposed undergarments■ Belt loops ⇒ belt■ No covers indoors on military installation

○ PT gear■ No headphones on roads■ Glow belt between evening & morning colors

● Liberty is a privilege, not a right and not your priority○ Ask your sponsor about unit SOP for liberty limits, hours, and reporting requirements○ Responsible alcohol use is allowed in accordance with local law and unit SOP
