ABOUT OLDFIELD MOTORSPORT
Although established in 2013, the Oldfield Motorsport name maybe relatively new to
the FF paddock, but the team members previous experience in motorsport goes way
back.
Managing Director, James Oldfield, will be 27 years old at the start of the season, and
established the team in 2013, along with father, Peter Oldfield.
James’ prior experience goes back to 2003 when assisting with a family friend during
the ‘2003 North West FF Championship’, and the passion for the category was caught
then. Ever since, James has prepared no less than 15 different FF cars.
In the years 2010 to 2013, James worked at Team West Tec F3, competing in the
European Open F3 (now titled Euro Open Formula), as a No1 Mechanic on a 2006,
2008 and 2012 Dallara F3 cars.
James’ father, Peter, is a Director at the family business and prime team sponsor
Oldfield’s Auto’s, based in Southport. Peter’s experience in motorsport goes back to
the 1970’s, when Rallying with his friends and father, as a Driver, Co-Driver and
mechanic.
Peter has also taken in over 10 years of experience of FF1600 racing to great
success.
Along with James and Peter, the team is well supported by many friends and family
who have contributed so much in such a short space of time.
OLDFIELD MOTORSPORT

With the advancement of technology over the years, Oldfield Motorsport firmly believe
the Van Diemen is the choice of current car to have, with the credentials of the 2014
and 2015 Van Diemen’s claiming the 2014 Walter Hayes Trophy, 2015 BRSCC National
Championship, the 2015 FF Festival and the 2015 Walter Hayes Trophy titles to name
but a few of the cars recent success in the UK.

OLDFIELD MOTORSPORT
1992 VAN DIEMEN
As well as preparing two current generation Van Diemen, the team shall continue to
run their ultra successful Van Diemen RF92.
The car was acquired by the team in 2013 from a family friend, was given a full
overhaul and made into the most successful Van Diemen RF92 competing today.
This was the car that built the foundations of the teams success since 2013, and has
attributed endless podiums and much success, with great driver feedback and
satisfaction.
The 92 Van Diemen was the car of the day, which ultimately ended with Jan
Magnussen winning the famous Formula Ford Festival for the works team.
Since 2013, the team have gained valuable track time and knowledge of the Van
Diemen RF92, and really made it our own car.
Featuring a modified mono-shock front suspension setup, with twin shock rear
suspension, narrow chassis and lightweight bodywork plus many other features, the
cars results in the hands of many drivers speaks for itself.
In 2014, the car won the National FF Championship and 3rd
place finish in the FF
Festival in the hands of multiple FF champion Stuart Gough, beating off the latest
spec Van Diemen and Ray cars in the process. Not only proving the competitiveness
of a 22 year old car, but the level playing field of FF1600.

WHY MOTORSPORT?
Marketing ‐ Why Motorsport?
Speed, Excitement, Thrills?
Yes, but for businesses the real reason has to be return on
investment and motorsport offers many benefits as a
marketing platform:
• Motor racing at a high level is a brand amplifier
• It is a marketing platform for affordable advertising
• It is a mark of authenticity
• It is a channel which allows direct consumer contact
• Difficult to reach and highly targeted audiences
THE COSTS
A seasons cost in Formula Ford can vary massively, due to affordability and
availability of events.
A typical testday can cost between £1,100 to £1,400, depending on track and
conditions, with a race event ranging between £2,000 and £2,500.
A ‘season budget’ can be tailor made to suit your own requirement, conditions and
circumstances, with no limit on how much testing or racing you can do in the year.
With the options of the National and Regional series, plus the ‘Blue Ribbon’ events
such as the FF Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy, the ‘Formula Ford’ category allows
drivers to learn and experience what the very heart of Motorsport has to offer at
unbelievable value.
