Know Your Talents, Grow Your StrengthsDo you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day? Chances are, you don’t. All too often, our natural talents go untapped, and we devote more time to fixing our shortcomings than to developing our strengths. Before this session you will pinpoint your top five strengths using Gallup’s online StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment. During the class we will explore how your strengths have shaped your past and present circumstances, and how you can leverage them to achieve your goals in the future. You will learn to develop your strengths by building on your greatest talents … the way you most naturally think, feel and behave. We will also discuss how your strengths shape your leadership style and how you can leverage your strengths to become a more effective leader.

We call this mental health literacy – or a basic understanding of what different mental illnesses and addictions are, how they can affect a person’s daily life, and what helps individuals experiencing these challenges get well. You will learn about: signs of addictions and mental illnesses, including depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis and substance abuse disorders; a 5-step action plan to assess a situation and help; the impact of mental and substance use disorders; and local resources and where to turn for help.

The Value of Boundaries for LeadersOne of the most serious problems facing people today is confusion about boundaries. Many sincere, dedicated individuals struggle with tremendous confusion about when it is appropriate to set limits in various aspects of their lives. When no limits are set, though, chaos creeps in, and otherwise strong leaders can buckle under the pressure and drama that ensues. If you’ve found yourself unsure about how to set limits on your time, talents and resources, or if you’ve ever felt guilty or afraid of setting boundaries, this interactive session is for you.

02/26 F 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM $15

Strong Leaders Must Be ReadersLeadership lessons can be learned through a variety of content – everything from Dr. Seuss books to interviews with Pope Francis to Oprah Winfrey magazines. In this interactive session, we invite you to bring a book that’s inspired you as a leader. You will have two minutes to discuss what leadership concept or idea you valued most from the book and how it’s shaped or changed your strategy when you engage with others. Come to this interactive session prepared to learn from fellow leaders and lengthen your Amazon wish list!

Leadercast 2016: Architects of TomorrowLeadercast focuses on what it means to be a visionary leader. Visionary leaders have the ability to see a preferred future, operate in the present and utilize the resources around them to architect a clear path to a new destination. They work tirelessly to empower those around them to bring a vision to life. Architects of Tomorrow imagine a future that is rich and full of hope, a future where problems are solved, questions are answered and confusion gives way to clarity. In its simplest form, leadership looks like creating and casting a compelling vision and mobilizing individuals to fulfill that vision. That is the role of the architect … they design the path, communicate the directions clearly and lead their team toward that preferred future with little deviation.

Mental Health First AidMental illness contributes to absenteeism, lost productivity, poor morale, poor work relationships and an increase in medical expenses, resulting in millions of dollars of losses for employers every year. Jessica Heavin, Licensed Professional Counselor, will give a brief overview of Mental Health First Aid, a course designed to give any member of the public information on recognizing symptoms of mental illness and referring individuals to appropriate resources. This 1.5 hour presentation will introduce the basic concepts of the 8 hour course and how it can be implemented in HR settings.
