PIPPIN With an infectiously unforgettable score from the four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Children of Eden), Pippin has been successfully produced on stages ranging from High School to Broadway. Sweeping the New York Awards circuit (Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle) in 2013, Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world.
Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to
true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the
temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his
father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happi-
ness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary mo-
ments that happen every day.

Willy Wonka Jr.
The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl's Willy Won-ka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth.
Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as
he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars.
Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as
well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable
brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour
in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow
Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences.

About Orchid Awards
OCTA (Ohio Community Theater Association) holds annual regional theater competitions. The
Southwest Region of OCTA (of which Cincinnati is a part) is one of the largest in the country with
20 plus theater groups as members.
ACT (Association of Community Theater); upon request by a member community theater group, will send three judges to critique all aspects of a
production, from cast members to lobby displays, from technical aspects to program design. These critiques are done to determine if any individual,
group or aspect of a production will win an Orchid Award that season.
To be considered nominated for an Orchid Award one judge has to nominate the person, group or
aspect, for the award. If two or three judges nominate then the Orchid Award is won.

LSC 2017—2018 Season
LSC Youth Summer Theater Free Holiday Show
3 Show Season Ticket Package

From The President's Digital Desk....
The Present: Welcome to the Loveland Stage Company Summer Children’s Workshop. Theatre can be a life-changing experience for both
the participants and their families. I hope you both have an amazing time!
The Future The 2017-2018 Season will be a great one, so be sure to attend and see some fantastic community theatre!
In November, we start out with the musical powerhouse, "Cabaret”. Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it is
based in nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around young American writer Cliff Bradshaw and his relationship
with 32-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat
Klub. The club serves as a metaphor for ominous political developments in late Weimar Germany. If you only have seen the
movie version, be sure to come out to see the play!
We follow that with the annual FREE song & dance program as our contribution to the annual Christmas in Loveland event in
December. Get in from the cold and enjoy some toe-tapping entertainment!
Next Spring we are offering two plays, directed by long-time LSC members. "9 to 5 The Musical" in March, and "Don’t Drink
The Water" in May. Auditions are noted on our website, so be sure to try out! If you are interested in behind-the-scenes activity,
there is PLENTY of need. Just ask one of the Board members or Committee Chairs.
Marquee Update: The new development across the street has necessitated a change to make our building more identifiable, and a Marquee seems to
be the answer. LSC has now gotten all the necessary permits and is ready to proceed with the construction.
We plan on starting on Monday, July 17, about 5pm with the demo of the existing sign. The construction will be spearheaded by
myself. If you have any construction, plumbing, or electrical experience, please contact me: Bob Kessler, 513-403-2009 or
I want to also stress that we are a community organization. We are here to serve our members and the greater Loveland populace. If
you have an idea about how we can reach out to those not yet aware of our theater, or you have a civic event you think would benefit
from a little of the LSC magic, please contact me. Be sure to 'Share' our productions with your friends on Facebook, Instagram and
Twitter. Get the word out about our great troupe of players!

Max Shilling, a Loveland High School 2017 graduate, is the recipient of the $1000 Loveland Stage Company Creative Arts Scholarship.
Max plans to attend Kent State University to study theater
management and production. He has been active in the Loveland
Stage Company and the Loveland High School drama program.
Max had his first stage experience in Loveland Stage Company’s
summer theater production of Carnival in 2012. Since then he has
appeared in every LSC summer theater workshop and worked back
stage for many of the other shows during the school year. This
summer he will be portraying Charles (Charlemagne) in LSC’s summer
workshop production of Pippin.
At Loveland High School, he has been in main stage productions as well as those put on by the local
Thespian Society. He most recently appeared, very briefly before being shot dead, as Rudi Scherz in A
Murder is Announced. Last fall, he shaved his head to portray Uncle Fester in LHS’ The Addams
Family, earning the Director’s Award for the most dedicated cast member.
Max was a member of the high school Cappies critic team and was one of the students chosen to
emcee the Cappies Gala at the Aronoff, celebrating high school theater in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Max’s own words sum up the reason he was chosen to receive this scholarship: “Theater has helped
me grow so much and I have made so many friends through it. I want to share this experience with
more people. I would love to someday open my own theater for adolescents, where children can
learn to love theater as much as I have.”
