The council met on April 21, 2017 in Championsgate, Fla. to curate the educational program for the 2017 Annual Convention. They reviewed the call for presentations submissions and survey responses, discussed member needs and hospitality trends, and then selected the topics and speakers for the educational program. This year’s event will follow the same format as in 2015 with the addition of table top exhibits. The President’s Evening has been rebranded as the “Annual Tribute to Success.” HFTP Helps will benefit Camp Boggy Creek this year, a free and safe camp environment for children with serious illnesses and their families. They have also organized a blood drive to help recovery efforts after recent tragedies and natural disasters.

The council’s year began with its first monthly conference call on March 15, 2017, where the council discussed the implementation of the newly revamped CHAE exam, along with the review slides that became effective January 1, 2017. The actual exam participation began in March 2017. The exam format changed from five sections to four, removing the tax section and making the exam less United States-centric. Along with the new exam launch, the council began the process of determining the implementation of the Certification Advisory Program (CAP). The CAP is an additional review format to prepare an exam candidate for the CHAE exam and encourage candidates to become more involved in the program.

The CHTP Advisory Council started the year with its first monthly conference call on March 28, 2017, where the council discussed the review process for the CHTP exam and determined that the format of the exam should remain the same. Since then, the council has reviewed all 600 questions and will next review the challenged questions and the recommended study materials list. The council is now determining the implementation process for the Certification Advisory Program (CAP). The council believes the inclusion of this program will spur more interest in candidates taking the exam and future interest in leadership roles for the council and other committees.
