Message From The BoardOn behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express how fortunate we are to be able to experience a broad collection of vibrant and energetic performances right here in Burlington. From artistic and educational programming, to community outreach initiatives, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre continues to showcase the best in performing arts. We are confident the 2016/2017 Season will inspire you, your family and friends.

None of this would be possible without the contributions from our donors, sponsors, patrons, City and community partners, staff and volunteers. On behalf of the Board of Directors, a heartfelt thank you to each of you for your efforts and support.

We hope to see you at the theatre - soon!

Ilene ElkaimBoard Chair

Message FromThe Executive Director

Welcome to The Burlington Performing Arts Centre’s 2016/2017 Season! In this sixth season, we are introducing all-in pricing and have tagged each show with their respective genre so you can discover more about each performer at a glance. You will find more of your favourite genres and a few new ones, including voices and introducing genNEXT – programming geared towards 20-35 year olds. I am also proud to have so many award winning artists in our program this year.

I feel strongly that The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is a cultural hub for Burlington and the surrounding communities. We strive to nurture and support our local presenters and producers, to act as an energetic catalyst for a vigorous arts sector, to animate the community, and engage with you in meaningful arts experiences. A special thank you to Costin Manu, Programming and Community Engagement Manager who has facilitated a program that is at the highest professional standard, is accessible yet challenging, that creates a dialogue, and is for people of all ages.

I invite you to be inspired – whether it’s a breathtaking dance performance, a comedian who makes you laugh until you cry, a singer who gives you chills, or a musician that charms your heart, mind and soul – these are the moments we need to invite into our lives. This is the power of the performing arts.

This theatre is more than a building. It’s a meeting place, a place of culture and vibrancy. Please join us as we build a creative community, and be inspired!

Tomi wowed the audience when he appeared in 2013 for the inaugural season of the Live and Local Music Series. We are pleased to welcome him back.

Mary Simon & Stuart Laughton’s Trumpet RomanceFriday, March 3, 2017With a certain je ne sais quois of lyrical sensibility, melodious composition and timeless storytelling, Mary Simon has a “gritty roots rock” sound, not to be missed. Stuart Laughton returns to the Live and Local Series with his one-man multi-media show, Trumpet Romance, using narration, trumpet, guitar, harmonica, and a series of projected images – fi lled with gentle self-irony and humour.

Just steps away from Lake Ontario and Burlington’s waterfront, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is a spectacular and convenient venue to host a wide range of corporate and community events, performances, conferences and galas. The Centre is the only performing arts centre in Ontario, and the second venue in Canada, to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Rent the Centre Community on StageThe Burlington Performing Arts Centre strives to nurture and support local presenters and producers, in addition to acting as an energetic catalyst for a vigorous arts sector. Burlington has a substantial performing arts community; we are thrilled to have many of these local arts organizations perform on our stages and join us as we entertain, engage, and inspire all of Burlington!

The Main Theatre is a multi-purpose performance venue seating 718 guests. Audience members enjoy excellent sightlines and proximity to the stage, proving intimate connections between performers and the audience. Our world-class acoustics and newly installed acoustic shell fine tune each performance, enhancing the quality and talent we bring through our doors. The Main Theatre also includes a six-storey fly tower and an interchangeable orchestra pit to accommodate more elaborate productions.

The Community Studio Theatre hosts smaller-scale events and performances for audiences up to 200 people. The Community Studio Theatre was designed as a flexible “black box” space with 2,500 square feet of sprung floor space to accommodate rehearsals, small receptions, intimate concerts, meetings, recitals, and can be used as a holding area for large stage productions in the Main Theatre.

The Family Lobby is a unique venue for receptions, exhibits, corporate functions and civic events. The 5,000-square-foot lobby is surrounded by glass walls and encircled by a mezzanine level, creating a unique social setting.
