Thanks for coming along to church today. At St Andrew’s, we want to welcome everyone; Christian believers, those seeking faith, skeptics, all who are looking for a spiritual home in Hong Kong. At each Sunday service we seek to learn more about the truths of God from the Bible, and encourage one another in our faith in Jesus.

If you’re new, come along to the red welcome table in the north entrance foyer after the service. We’d love to be able to meet you, welcome you personally, and answer any of your questions.

Welcome to

ST ANDREW’S

As soon as I saw the title ’10 Things I’ve Learned About Life’, I knew I wanted to attend the Women’s Brunch on the 18 June, for it seemed an ideal opportunity to grow in Christ!

The date went into my calendar, but woe of woes, I overslept that morning such that my mother-in-law, Jean, and I were terribly late. Still, we arrived in time for some delicious food and to hear all that the two speakers, Jackie Yip and Pat Hanson, had to share, and I can honestly say I was not disappointed!

Space doesn’t allow me to share extracts from their talks, but with over 70 ladies attending, many of you know the details anyway. What I can share, however, is how deeply I was moved and encouraged by both Jackie and Pat. These two ladies from vastly differing backgrounds who have been walking very different paths, had stories to tell which had so much in common that the hand of Christ was clearly revealed. Both shared from the heart of personal trials and tribulations, frustrations and anger, heartbreak and tears, but they also shared of the miracles, joy, peace and contentment received. I’m sure most, if not all, left encouraged that morning with both their faith and trust sufficiently reinforced to go back out into the world to face their own personal challenges.

I for one will be attending the next women’s event in September, and I’ll be sure to be there in good time because next time, I don’t want to miss one minute of the wonderful time of fellowship that Jean and I were warmly welcomed into when we walked through those doors!

TODAY OLD VICARAGE PLAYGROUND RE-OPEN

As announced, a few staff will be leaving at the end of July. Emma returns to UK to explore ordination. Shirley and Zara will go to the U.S. for further training on intercultural studies and children’s ministry respectively.

We want to collect a gift from the congregation to thank them and to support their studies. Please mark your gift for all or any of them, and put it in the offertory bag or send it to the Church Office before 20 July.

The Church building will be closed temporarily from 4 July to 3 August for renovations including the replacement of air-conditioners and lighting.

On the four affected Sundays (10, 17, 24 and 31 July), the Early Morning and Mandarin services will take place in the YouthWorX Centre in the 1/F of Christian Centre. The youth will meet in the Amphi-theatre on 10 and 17 July.

The work has been long due. We hope to upkeep this beautiful heritage building. Please pray that the renovations will go smoothly.

Bible ReadingsPSALM 98

COLOSSIANS 3:15-17

1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.2 The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;5 make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing,6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the Lord, the King.

7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;9 let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
