April 2016 Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce 2

It’s April and that means the Samuel McLeod Business Awards are happening soon. These awards are always an exciting time for the Chamber, our sponsors and the many local businesses that participate in the nomination and application process. I’d like to congratulate all those who were nominated and those who went on to become finalists. Your success in business and in Prince Albert helps drive growth in our community, and we value your participation in both the local community and in the Chamber organization.

The Chamber has been busy preparing for the awards event, which will recognize local business excellence in 11 categories, including Business of the Year. Of course, this event would not be possible without our sponsors, and we appreciate your support of this annual awards event.

The 26th Annual Samuel McLeod Business Awards will take place April 21, 2016 at the Ches Leach Lounge at the Art Hauser Centre. Tickets are available by calling 306-764-6222 or through our website.

The Chamber hosted a well-attended political forum March 22 with provincial election candidates from our five local-area ridings. A number of issues were debated including education, taxes, the economy, crime, health and mental health and social issues. The forum was an opportunity to hear from local candidates about their plans for the Prince Albert area should they be elected. Candidates from the Saskatchewan Party, NDP and Liberal parties were in attendance.

As the weather warms up, the Chamber is once again preparing for its annual golf tournament June 16. More details can be found on Page 3. The golf tournament is a great chance to network with other local business owners and have some fun at the same time. Limited spots are available, so please register early. Opportunities are also available for businesses that wish to sponsor a tee, green or team prize for the golf tournament.

More details about all Chamber events, and those of our Chamber members, can always be found on our website at www.princealbertchamber.com.

This annual spring event has featured many themes over the years and has been host to a fashion show and most recently live entertainment. The continued success of this event is with thanks to the generous support of the community and the hard work of a dedi-cated group of volunteers.

This annual fundraiser raises money to support the most promising cancer research, support services for people with cancer and their families, education on preventing cancer and advocating for a health-ier province and country.

Tickets are $45 and must be purchased in advance. They are available at the Cana-dian Cancer Society Office, 54 11th St. East, Prince Albert or by calling 306-764-4808.
