What a wonderful celebration! Reconnecting with old friends . . .

Remembering mission and ministry of the past . . . Worshipping with an

extended Church family . . . Recalling how we have been shaped and

changed by the faith leadership of Scottsville Saints . . . and, of course,

enjoying several fine meals.

We have all commented many times about how much we enjoyed

all the memorabilia, the reminiscences, and the fellowship of our common

past. We certainly owe a great deal of thanks to the planning team and its

leadership including the Honorary Chairperson and historian, Alma Wil-

lits.

But now that the Grand Celebration is past, everything is returned

to its respective storage place, and the only activity remaining is our par-

ticipation in the 4th of July Parade, we need to ask, “What difference did it

all make?” What have we learned from all this? How is tomorrow going

to be different because of yesterday?

Through all the activities, it was clear that the people of the last 50

years have had a great impact on those of us who are here today. The les-

son, then, is just as obvious. Your actions and relationships today are what

will be celebrated at Scottsville’s Bicentennial. Today we are writing the

script for the Church’s Dodransbicentennial (it really is a word) Celebra-

tion.

In 25 years, one of the young people sitting with you in the sanctu-

ary will be standing in the pulpit talking about what you said or did today

and how formative it was in their walk of faith. In 10 years, someone will

look back on your support today as a turning point in their young life.

Next week, someone will invite another person to a life in Christ because

of something you said today.

At some point in your future, you will face the Lord and be held

accountable for opportunities made and lost to share His love and His

message. Listen for Him to tell you, “Come, you who are blessed by my

Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the

creation of the world.” (Read Matthew 25:31-46)

Live your life of faith boldly today. It makes a difference to

someone’s tomorrow . . . and to your eternity.

Anniversary CelebrationAnniversary Celebration We have an amazing church family. The excitement had been building over the past year with special services

and events leading up to May 22. Our anniversary committee members worked diligently to bring this celebra-

tion together. Team members of the Anniversary Committee had;

updated our 125th anniversary history book to present day,

highlighted monthly celebrations of various ministries at Scottsville,

worked on and completed an anniversary cookbook,

reached out to the township, local newspaper, and state representatives,

contacted and invited Scottsville Alumni,

held fundraisers to defray costs associated with the celebration,

made arrangements for our luncheon celebration,

copied and produced history books to share,

and the list goes on…

took the initiative, formed a team, and went to work. This directory will be available soon. Members of that

Ladies of the church get together on the first Wednesday morning of each month. On

Wednesday, June 1, you are invited to join us at Kelly’s Restaurant in the ACME

shopping center in Bensalem at 9:00 a.m.

The UMW will hold their annual picnic on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the

home of Phyllis Morgan (611 Christ Home Drive in Warminster). Ladies will car-

pool from the church at 6:00 p.m. Ladies, those with last names beginning A-L, please bring a dessert,

and those M-Z a salad. Once again, instead of exchanging white elephant gifts, we ask that you please

bring much needed basic kitchen food staples, and/or cooking utensils for LUMINA.

Here is the list: Salsa, applesauce, plain bread crumbs, brown rice, cake mix and icing, lemon juice,

brown minute rice, raisins, non-fat ranch dressing, sliced almonds, vegetable oil, 8 X 8 baking dish,

handheld can openers, dry measuring cups, measuring spoons, liquid measuring cups, plastic mixing

bowls, plastic mixing spoons, rubber spatulas, wooden spoons, Ziploc bags (all sizes), plastic cups,

spoons, forks, and knives, insulated shopping bags, and electric skillets. Please call Georgeanne Toner

Graduate Recognition Sunday is June 12. Please e-mail the church office with the

names of any 2016 High School or College graduates by June 5. The following addi-

tional info would be helpful: school (from and to) and degree. Thank you.

SUMC is once again collecting used clothing and small

household items. The collection begins today, and runs

thru Sunday, August 21.

Start cleaning out those closets and drawers. Items that are

bagged or boxed may be left on the right side of the stage in Fellowship Hall. If you have any questions

on what can be donated, please reach out to Donna Tetreault. The Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization

benefits from this drive, as well as the church. Thank you.

A Woman’s Place is helping women and their families escape not only dangerous

situations, but also help these families set up new homes. They have asked if we

would be willing to help by collecting and donating certain “full size” items in ad-

dition to our long time trial-size toiletry collection.

Each month we will let you know what items we are collecting in the monthly

newsletter. During the entire month of June, we will collect furniture polish,

glass cleaner, sandwich bags, and dish detergent (hand or machine).

You can place your donations at our “Mission Possible” Service collection laundry basket located in Fel-

lowship Hall. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Don or any member of the Service Team: Pa-

trice Matthews, Dolly Schaffer, Joan Turner, Joy Crosbie, or Connie Kleiman

If you are inclined to donate an empty laundry basket or 2, we will welcome the gesture!

Lower Southampton Veterans Advisory Council

Flag Retirement Ceremony - Come join us. The Lower Southamp-

ton Veterans Advisory Council will celebrate Flag Day (Sunday,

June 14th) at 4PM (1600 hours) at the flagpole at Playwicki Farm

(2350 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville) for a Flag Retirement Cere-

mony. If you have any U.S. flags that are no longer usable, please

bring them to the farm. If you are unable to attend and have unusa-

ble flags that need to be retired, you can drop them off at the Town-

ship office during business hours. For information on the LSVAC

go to LStWP.org and link to Veterans.

In some countries, children don't have books or

school supplies. Many have no schoolrooms; classes

are held in inadequate or half-destroyed buildings,

tents, or even the open air. School kits may be these

children's only educational resources.

This summer we are collecting supplies for school

kits to be delivered to and distributed by UMCOR

(United Methodist Committee on Relief). Monetary

donations are also readily accepted. Look for the

Christmas tree in the narthex. Take a tag (or 2 or 3

or 4). Place your donation and tag(s) in an envelope,

and drop them in the collection plate any Sunday between June 1 and August 31.

We also need volunteers to sew the school bags. Patterns and a tub of material

will be available at the tree. Take some material and a pattern, and return them as

soon as they’re completed. This is an important part of this project.

We look forward to another successful Summer Santa Project. We know you

will give of your time, talents, and resources for this important mission project.

Our Anniversary Committee is planning on entering a float/display in the Lower

Southampton 4th of July parade this year highlighting our 150th. Sue Britsch is

leading this event. She will be reaching out to the various Sunday school clas-

ses to get ideas/participation from the youth. If you have any ideas or wish to

participate please contact Sue. More details will be shared in the weekly bulle-

tins as we get closer to this July event.

June 5 is Confirmation Sunday. The Confirmation class invites their

Scottsville family to witness their affirmation of faith at the 11:00am worship

service. The confirmands are: Stanley Omietanski, Sarah Omietanski, Emily

Stewart, Elizabeth Errico, and Brad Morrison.

We wish to thank those special adults who have supported us over the past two

years. Our Prayer buddies are: Stanley - Bill Kent, Sarah - Nan Kent, Emily - Kathy Mininger,

Elizabeth - Doris Carter, and Brad - Chuck Bye and Mike Bittner Jr.

We also want to thank our leaders Patrice Matthews and Bill Pawlowski for sharing themselves and

their faith with us. Mom and Dad… thank you isn’t enough for all the love and support you give

throughout our lives.

By The Numbers Here are some facts about your Church which you may find interesting:

This year, Scottsville’s picnic will be held on the church grounds, and

will begin after the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Bring your own lunch, drinks, and snacks. As in previous years, there

will be a community dessert table to share.

Dress comfortably. Games are planned for kids of all ages. You might

even win a prize.

Our Summer Worship Schedule begins June 19.

Join us at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m.

Scottsville’s Sunday School summer program for children ages pre-school through 4th

grade will begin June 19, and run through August 21. The program will run during the

10:00 a.m. worship hour. Please contact Ruth Irwin with any questions (215) 364-8230.

Our regular Sunday School program will conclude on June 12th, the day of our

church picnic. It will then resume in the Fall on September 11. Please take note

that Sunday School will not be held for the children on July 3.

Music Notes - What a busy year we have had! Lots and lots of great music! The Chan-

cel Choir has certainly risen to the occasion in celebrating our 150th Anniversary.

Choir members - Remaining rehearsals will take place before worship on June 5 and 12 at

10:15am.

Mark your calendars - Sunday, June 12 is Choir Recognition Sunday. Join me in thanking

our choir for their exceptional work and dedication. To me… they are all “Rock Stars!!”

June’s Mission offering will support United Methodist Neighborhood Services.

U.M.N.S. is a community service program for all low income people. They offer a

thrift shop, summer day camp, and emergency food and clothing.

The Joyful Noise Offering will support Aiding Our Neighbors. There is a distinct group of homeless peo-

ple in America that does not fit the stereotypical profile most often associated with the homeless. They are

low income, working families who have suffered a setback due to tragedy, illness, or unemployment, and as

a result have lost their homes. They are intact families that want to stay together and avoid shelters, which

are typically set up to house victims of abuse and the mentally ill. Instead, they end up moving among low

cost hotels in order to keep their families together. They are below the radar screen of relief agencies, and

typically not earning enough to afford the first month’s rent and security deposit for a more permanent resi-

dence. As a result, the children often suffer the consequences, moving from school to school as the family is

forced to switch hotels.

In Bucks County, Carol Saunders saw the need and founded Aiding Our Neighbors, Inc. Carol works selec-

tively with families, helping them to escape this vicious cycle. She has worked to help many establish per-

manent residence again with an astounding success rate: only one family has become homeless a second

time. Your donations will also help provide everyday essentials.
