OMF Artistic Director Julio Elizalde performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major in the composer's own arrangement for string quintet. Bottesini's Gran Duo Concertante, an operatic fantasy for violin and double bass, has been a favorite work of OMF audiences for years. Violist Mark Holloway, an artist of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, makes his debut. The Iglitzin Chamber Music Fellows are four exceptionally talented young musicians from around the world who were selected following a highly competitive audition process. While in residence over two weeks, the fellows collaborate with mentoring festival artists while gaining invaluable professional experience. Jonathan Vinocour, principal violist of the San Francisco Symphony debuts. Violin virtuoso Ray Chen, an OMF audience favorite, returns to the Olympic Peninsula to make his chamber music debut following three seasons of sensational recitals. New Frontiers features works like Elgar's rarely heard Piano Quintet, which is one of the great examples of British romanticism in chamber music. Dreamscapes & Fantasies explores the brooding emotions captured by Mahler and Bridge while the works by Krug and Beethoven share a humorous flair. Dimitri Murrath, winner of the Primrose International Viola Competition, makes his debut. Jean-Michel Fonteneau serves on the cello faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is a founding member of the Ravel String Quartet.
