Preparation:There is no preparation necessary, the resin surface comes ready to paint. Any slight imperfections can be lightly sanded. Wipe with a damp cloth.I left the following areas just the raw white resin color. I was careful when basecoating not to get other colors on these areas: Head; hands; bottom; scarf; and fur. If other colors end up on these parts, you can always basecoat with Warm White.Basecoat as follows:Lamp Black – hatPurple Cow – hatband; stripes on scarfEspresso – pinecones; wreath1

Foliage Green – pine needles; leaves on wreathWhispering Turquoise – coatCoral Blush – bow on wreath

Painting Instructions:Shade the snowman’s face under the hat and above the scarf; the hands against the cuffs and around the wreath bow; and under the trim on his coat and around the bottom with Victorian Blue. Stipple the head; hands; and bottom area of the snowman with Warm White. Be sure to stipple over the shading a bit as the blue is a strong color. Blush the cheeks with Watermelon Slice. Basecoat the nose with Persimmon. The eyes are mouth are Lamp Black. Rather than just fi lling them in round, I made the eyes & mouth a little more irregular (easier than trying to keep black paint just in the embossed areas!). Highlight the eyes and tops of the cheeks with tiny dots of Warm White.Shade the fur on the cuffs at the top and bottom; and around the bottom of the fur around the bot-tom of the coat with Zinc. Stipple the fur with Warm White.Shade the hatband against the greenery and in the folds with Grape Juice and highlight the top of the hatband with a drybrush of Warm White. Highlight the edges and crown of the hat with drybrush of Warm White. Shade the scarf, at the bottom of the stripes; in the folds; against the ties; on the back tie under the scarf; and against the scarf on the fringe with Grape Juice. Highlight the ends of the fringe with Warm White.Shade the coat, under the scarf; around the sleeves; on the sleeves; against the cuffs; around the wreath; inside the wreath; and around the bottom of the coat with Turquoise Blue. Highlight the open areas of the coat; center of the sleeves; and inside the wreath with a drybrush of Warm White. Line the snowfl akes; dot the center of them; and add dots between the snowfl akes with Warm White. With thinned Soft Black, line here & there on the wreath; add a little Warm White to your brush and pull a few lines here & there to highlight. Add some small dots of Tomato Red by the leaves on the wreath. Shade the bow on the wreath, both sides of the knot; bottom of the knot; under the loops; and inside the loops with Tomato Red. Highlight the edges of the loops; top of the knot;

and ends of the ties with Warm White.

Finishing:Paint Ice Crystal on the fur areas; and here & there on the white parts of the scarf. Paint Copper on the pinecones and here & there on the wreath. Paint Limelight on the greenery on the hat and on the leaves on the wreath. Paint Purple Princess on the hatband and on the ends of the scarf fringe. Paint Celebration Pink on the wreath bow. I did at least 2 coats of each of these – if you want more sparkle, add more – but let it dry between coats.Finish with several light coats of Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher – Matte.

Using Black Plum, shade the scarf next to the face, where the scarf overlaps, at the ends by the fringe, and in the large grooves; shade the hat band next to the pinecones and pine boughs. Add highlights with your highlighter brush and Fiery Red. For the mittens, shade next to the cuffs with Black Plum too, and highlight the tips with Fiery Red.

For the coat fur, shade with Milk Chocolate along the edges where the bow crosses over, next to the mittens and along the edges next to the coat. Also, shade the scarf fringe next to the body of the scarf with Antique White. Highlight the cen-ters of the fur cuffs, the ends of the scarf fringe, and the lower edge of the bottom coat fur with your highlighter brush and Light Buttermilk.

The wreath and pinecones are shaded with Burnt Umber where the pinecones meet each other and the hat band, next to the mittens and under the bow and on the inside edge of the wreath. With your highlighter brush and Sable Brown and some highlights to the tips of the pinecones and around the center of the wreath. The leaves and pine boughs are shaded with Hauser Medium Green on the back edge of each leaf and where the pine boughs meet the pine-cones. Highlight the tips of the leaves and pine boughs with Lemonade. Add dip dot berries to the wreath with your stylus and Country Red.
