The 2016 GIFT Snapshot Report is a compilation of data from
Indiana community foundations entered into the CF Insights
database.

016 data collection was a success! Thank you for being diligent in completing the survey in a timely manner. We believe being part of the national database is of great benefit as it enables us to benchmark ourselves with the entire field.
In 2016, all 94 community foundations reported their data. The total assets of Indiana community foundations grew to $3.1 billion from $2.9 billion in 2015.
2016 Statistics:
Average size of Indiana Community Foundations increased 5% to $26 Million
Average grant size (includes scholarships) increased to $4,600 from $4,000 in 2015
Average unrestricted grant size increased to $7,500 from $6,200 in 2015
Unrestricted gifts decreased slightly to 18% from 23 % of core contributions in 2015
Amount of total contributions to endowed funds decreased to 51% from 67% in 2015
Amount of total contributions to existing funds remained steady at 63%
Aggregate sustainability remained steady at 90%; with 75% of CFs above 80% in 2016
