2 - 2016-17 Youth Program

Fall programs are underway at Charity Lutheran Church. What a blessed and exciting time for all, when Sunday and Wednesday activities resume.

We believe parents are the main spiritual influence in a child’s life! It is so important that Charity staff and parents partner together to raise youth who follow Christ. It is our desire to encourage and equip parents to be effective in leading their children to become strong followers of Christ.

We understand the importance of communication in providing families opportunities to grow in their faith journey. The new youth

data base provides Charity's staff the tools to text and email events, schedule changes and other pertinent information in a real-time manner.

Information will also be posted on the Charity Youth Events bulletin board opposite the Charity office. A children's area bulletin board can be found downstairs.

Charity Lutheran Church is dedicated to be “A Shelter in Christ Transforming Lives.” Our goal is to reach youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Our Mission is to seek the heart of God together and be open to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday Morning(Ages 3 years through 5th Grade)

Two Sunday School classes to choose from - 9:10 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:40 to 11:55 a.m.

It is our hope to continually build the Kingdom of God through Sunday School. Children are divided into grade-level groups and move from large group, small group and activity/snack stations through the hour. Sunday mornings are exciting times - full of energy coupled with times of quiet sharing.

Groups and rotation schedules:• Social time/activity stations are created for the children and their

shepherds to hang out together and enjoy some “center” time. This allows the children to choose an area of fun play and socialize with their buddies from church.

• Large group teaching time features drama, puppets, videos, hands-on learning and music.

• Small group times are for discussion on lessons learned in large group time. This segment includes a lesson and/or activity that drives home the message. Small groups are held in classrooms with a shepherd/teacher and includes a snack.

So many questions and so many choices. Jesus tells us in Scripture that “The truth will set us free.” This year we will be dealing with serious topics relevant to young people today. We want our young people to have the opportunity to discuss and

learn about each topic and find out what God’s Word says and why He says it.

CoNFIrmationRequirements

Confirmation is:The personal decision and public proclamation to take ownership of one’s faith in Jesus Christ… • for salvation from sin and death • for following Jesus throughout life for transformation and purpose • as attested to the church in the Apostle’s Creed

Voluntary Affirmation of FaithThis must be a personal decision. It must be free from any undue social, family or even pastoral pressure! After having completed training, each student is now free to publicly affirm his or her faith before the congregation during worship (WOW, WOW Sunday or a Sunday morning services). This rite is what is commonly known as Confirmation (the Affirmation of Baptism) and means that an individual publicly takes ownership of his or her relationship with Christ. This process, because it is voluntary, involves some components that each student is free to fulfill at his or her own pace.

Confirmation Requirements: • Participation in at least 1 mission trip or approved equivalent.

• Demonstrate consistent attendance. (WOW 6th-10th grade)

• Interview with a youth team member prior to Affirmation of Faith at a worship service.

• Must complete 3 service projects. (see page 13 for options available)

• Share his or her testimony (faith story) either live, a written testimony, or via video during his or her Affirmation of Faith at a worship Service.

Confirmation Sundays: October 30 and April 30

You may also give your testimony at most WOW services during the year Contact Julie Dolbec at [email protected].
