UVA VS BOWLING GREEN• Virginia leads the all-time series 1-0• This will be the second meeting of the teams, both in the last two seasons• The only previous meeting was on Dec. 8, 2015. UVA won, 68-39, in JPJ• The Cavaliers went on a 37-9 run spanning the second and third quarters to break open a 17-12 game• UVA forced 24 turnovers in the game, including 15 in the first half. The Cavaliers converted the miscues into 28 points. In addi-tion to grabbing 10 steals, the Cavalier press forced three 10-sec-ond violations while Moses took two charges in the post• Virginia shot 41.0 percent (25-of-61) while holding Bowling Green to 27.3 percent shooting (12-of-44). WBCA GOOD WORKS TEAM NOMINEE• Senior guard Breyana Mason has been nominated for the 2017 Allstate WBCA Good Works Teams• The WBCA and NABC Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. Mason is among a record 278 total nominees with 97 women’s basketball players and 181 men’s basketball players, including 64 from Division I, for this year’s teams• Mason has been a leader on and off the court for the Cavaliers. During her time at UVA, she has consistently been involved in community service projects. Mason has spoken to school groups, worked with the Special Olympics and worked Habitat for Hu-manity builds.• A two-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team, the American Studies major was honored last year by the Virginia Athletics Department as the recipient of the Ralph Sampson Award, presented to the third-year student who best demonstrat-ed excellence in academics, leadership and athletics. On the court this season, Mason is averaging 8.2 points per game while adding 18 assists and 11 steals• Mason is one of seven student-athletes from the Atlantic Coast Conference among the nominees. The list will be narrowed down to two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the Division I level and five each from Divisions II, III and NAIA.
