Usernames in the Moodle site are the same email address used for Educator Portal. When a

user first logs in, the temporary password is the first part of their email address, up to the “@”.

For example, educator Jane Jones will use her email of [email protected] as her login name

and a temporary password of jjones on her first login to Moodle. She will then be prompted to

change her password.

PROVIDING STUDENT PRACTICE IN THE DLM SYSTEM

We are drawing closer to the spring DLM assessment window and time is growing short to

provide students with opportunities to practice in the DLM assessment system. There are two

different ways teachers can provide this practice. Students can either access practice tests using

demo student id’s and passwords, or teachers can assign instructional plans through the

instructional Tools Interface (ITI) which prompts the system to create an instructionally

embedded assessment specific to that plan. The ITI will close for the school year on February

27, 2017 in preparation of the spring assessment window. We recommend that teachers utilize

the instructionally embedded assessments as it is a great way to see in advance of the spring

assessment window how well students will respond to the linkage levels assigned by the system.

Please see instructions for both methods below.

ACCESSING DEMO STUDENT PRACTICE ASSESSMENTS

You can utilize generic practice tests by logging into KITE Client with any of the following

usernames and passwords (see screenshot below). This is a great way to see how the different

accessibility features function during an assessment.

ACCESSING INSTRUCTIONALLY EMBEDDED ASSESSMENTS

In order for students to have access to instructionally embedded assessments, you must first

assign instructional plans in the Instructional Tools Interface. The ITI will close for the school

year on February 27, 2017 in preparation of the spring assessment window. The instructions

for assigning an instructional plan can be found below.

Upon completing this process the system will assign an assessment for every instructional plan

created, which can then be accessed through KITE Client. This will allow you to assess your

students with assessments that are specific to them (grade level, content area, linkage

level…). You will need to sign in to KITE Client using your student’s username and password to

access the assigned assessments. These assessments in no way impact the spring scores, but do

allow your students to practice. It also allows you to see if the First Contact Survey is sending

appropriate information about your students or if the information needs to be updated.

Please contact Christie Stephenson at [email protected] or Sheila Butler at

[email protected] with any questions you might have regarding the DLM Assessment

System or the Pearson Portfolio.
