Knight and Family of the Month Awards

The Archdiocese's 103rd Wedding Jubilee Cele-bration Mass was recently held at St. Dominic Parish in Brookfield. Archbishop Jerome Listecki was the principal celebrant and homilist. Grand Knight’s Message

It's my sad duty to extend condolences to the Gary Um-breit family. Our council will have to cope with the loss of an outstanding Knight in Action. I want to thank those Brother Knights who volunteered for the Membership Drive at St. Catherine of Alexandria. Surely all of us know Catholic men who are eligible to join our Order. Help our council grow by suggesting candi-dates. Provide me with their names and contact infor-mation and I, along with our Field Agent Pat LaPointe, will make them aware of the Order's many benefits. As the years go by our General Fund barely covers our ordinary expens-es. In closing I invite you to attend our Christmas Party at the Villa at Bradley Estates on Saturday, December 13, at 2 PM. It's a great way to celebrate the holiday season. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a Blessed Christ-mas.

Fraternally, GK Tim Nighbor

Our council's participation in the recent Milwau-kee Life Chain was bolstered by the presence of 3 generations of one family. For 90 minutes they peacefully and prayerfully publicized the plight of God's children whose lives are abruptly ended by surgical and chemical abortions. Council 6646 Honors Departed Brother Gary Umbreit

Fr. Ed’s Famous Fruitcakes

On October 15, thirteen Brother Knights partici-pated in the KC prayer service conducted at the vigil for Gary Umbreit at the Zwaska Funeral Home. Joining Phil McCarthy, who led the service, were Bill Bergeron, Lary Brushafer, Edward Hub-bard, Mike Jansen, Jim Kastenholz Frank Kostuch, Bob Moranski, Jim Neuner, Tim Nighbor, Herb Phelps, Peter Ruta, Peter Schulteis and Eric Timm. At the conclusion, Peter Schulteis presented a certificate of condolence to Gary's widow, Diane, who expressed her deep ap-preciation for our comfort and support. Brother Gary was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for 17 years. He was truly a Knight in Action - his many volunteer hours at our Tootsie Roll Drives, Fish Fry Events and past BINGO fundraisers demonstrated his personal commitment to our coun-cil's many charitable endeavors. Left behind to treasure his memory are his loving wife Diane and sons Gary, Jim, and Steve. Fr. Mike Barrett, assisted by Brothers Bob Moranski and Ed Hubbard, celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Good Hope.

Dear Knights of Columbus Council 6646, My family and I would like to thank you for your support, pray-ers and comforting words during Gary's illness. Thank you also for your expressions of sympathy upon Gary's death. We would like you to know that we really appreciated the ceremony and the Resolution of Condolence that was ready at Gary's visitation.

Sincerely, Diane

Council 6646 has accepted the offer to sponsor this fundraiser - a legacy of our former Chaplain Fr. Ed Husli. These homemade holiday treats will soon be available for Thanksgiving/Christmas celebra-tions and as gifts for family members and friends. The cost - $8.00 each or two for $15. Proceeds will be earmarked for CHURCH RELATED charitable donations! Because of the limited number, please con-sider placing your order NOW - and paying upon delivery. Orders will be filled according to the date they are received. E-mail [email protected] or call 414-355-4094.

Council 6646 has been providing assistance at funeral Masses for the priests at St. Catherine of Al-exandria and Our Lady of Good Hope since 1988. Fathers Michael Barrett, Richard Mirsberger and Joseph Hornacek, as well as the bereaved families, truly appreciate this service to the Church. More members are needed for this spiritual work of mercy. Contact Bob Moranski (OLGH) 414-446-9402 or Phil McCarthy (St. Catherine, 76th Pl.) to volun-teer.

Acolytes and Pall Bearers’ Club

Brother Bob and Lady Janet Moranski recent-ly received the Fr. Gene Jakubek Achievement Award from the Riverwest Alumni at their annual luncheon. Their hours of community service will help preserve our Order's status with the IRS.

Congratulations!

Among our council’s many traditions is a holiday visit to the Villa at Bradley Estates located at 6735 N. Bradley Rd. On Saturday, December 13th at 2 PM Brother Knights, Ladies and family members along with accompanist Brother Kurt Worden will entertain the residents with holiday songs guaran-teed to evoke memories of past Christmas celebra-tions. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a most welcome appearance and “help to make the season bright.” Light refreshments will be served. Both the resi-dents and staff look forward to this event. Let’s not disappoint them.

Pro-Life Potpourri

Council 6646 co-sponsored a "Baby shower" at St. Bernadette and Our Lady of Good Hope. Thanks to the generosity of parish members dozens of color-ful sleep and play garments, layette items, receiving blankets (many made by loving hands) packages of diapers and other newborn needs were delivered to the Women's Care Center and the Women's Support Center. Directors Sharon Hudy and Mary Gilpin, along with the dedicated volunteers expressed their deepest gratitude for the "shower" items and the fi-nancial support. These Crisis Pregnancy Centers receive grants from the Wisconsin State Council's Culture of Life Fund. Please consider adding a donation when you pay your membership dues or donate directly to one of the Centers. Since the Order of the Knights of Columbus be-gan its Ultrasound Initiative in 2009, local and state councils have teamed up with the Supreme Council to raise more than $14,000,000 for the purchase of over 490 ultrasound machines used by Crisis Preg-nancy Centers throughout the country. Pro-Life Sonographers volunteer to provide a life-saving "window to the womb." One had this experi-ence, "On her first visit a young lady told me she would have an abortion no matter what I said. When she came back for the ultra sound she said twice, :I have prepared myself-even as I see a heart beat or body parts I'm not going to change my mind!; You know what happened? As soon as she saw her ba-by's heartbeat - and I mean AS SOON as she saw her baby's heartbeat - she changed her mind." Editor's note: over 80% of mothers who view the ul-trasound image of their babies choose LIFE for their boys and girls!

We received your generous donation of $100 which allows us to offer the value-based Abortion Information Services our callers need at a time when society encourages abortion whenever a pregnancy is inconvenient

For Life, Mary Zielinski

Treasurer In a letter to the Galatians (2:11) St. Paul wrote: "And when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he clearly was wrong" I would do virtually anything to avoid conflict. But that simply is not the reality of Christian life. We must protect those who cannot protect them-selves; we must speak for those who cannot speak for themselves; we must stand up for the truth when it is under attack. We must confront - in love, wisdom, and prudence - those who wrong

us. We cannot really call ourselves Christians un-less we are in the ways we are called, fighting the good fight. Editor's note: Perhaps you can't join a Pro-Life March or lack the financial resources to support a Crisis Pregnancy Center, but ALL of us can fight the good fight through PRAYER!

O’Meara Life Resources This event on Friday, December 5, 2014, will be held in the South Hall of Our Lady of Good Hope School from 6:30 – 10”30 PM. It provides funds for our Scholarship and Scouting programs. Please promote attendance by inviting family members, relatives and friends. Don’t forget your card club or your poker buddies! Consider donating a bottle of brandy, whis-key, wine or a six pack of beer for the “Holiday Spirits Raffle” or prepare a batch of chili for the lunch. Volunteer to help prepare and serve lunch and clean up the kitchen. Please contact any committee member for ticket information, table reservations and/or to make arrangements for donations. Your support in any way is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Bob Paul Peter Norb

Pro-Life Prayer Heavenly Father, who created us all, hear my prayer. Please send the Holy Spirit to enlighten the mind and touch the heart of anyone who may consider destroying an innocent preborn child. Guide them to save the smallest, weak-est and most beautiful of Your creations. For all those tiny ones who are lost this day through abortion, receive these orphans who cannot cry out; wrap them in Your divine love and bestow Your blessings on them in heaven, And, for all those who counsel mothers seeking abortion, give them words of love and wisdom, and perseverance in witnessing to life. Give me courage and strength to follow the ex-ample of Jesus, our merciful Savior, in offering my prayers and sufferings this day for these intentions and for the salvation of the souls of all who are involved in killing preborn babies. Amen.

The Wisconsin State Council's CHARITY FUND helps ease financial burdens and restores hope to Wisconsin families and victims of accidents and ill-ness. A recent grant of $2500 went to a Milwaukee couple. The husband has MS and is currently in a wheelchair. The wife has suffered a stroke and is also battling cancer. This FUND will also provide grants for religious vocations. Your 2015 RAFFLE TICKETS will be mailed along with a cover letter and a return envelope. The total prize package is $50,000. Please buy and/or sell them so our council can continue our annual $500 grants to 3 seminarians preparing for the priesthood in the Milwaukee Archdiocese!

My Dear Brother Knights. It is humbling to learn from the Meyer Memos that you have decided to extend to me your generous financial and spiritual support. Thank you for thinking of me as you carry out the mis-sion of our Order to support the priesthood and vocations to the priesthood. Seminary life brings many rewards along with its challenges. In particular, it gives me great joy to know that there are faithful Brother Knights out there praying for me and supporting me so that I, in turn, will be able to support you and so many others by my future priestly ministry. The Christian life really is a team effort; none of us could do it along. Please know of my heartfelt prayers for all the Knights of your council and for the many good works you undertake.

Almighty and Merciful God, Your Son Jesus loved us so much

That he died and rose again to bring us new life. We pray for our brothers and sisters, who have died

Grant them Your forgiveness and bring them to eternal life in the company of all Your saints.

Amen.

Remember Our Departed Brothers and Sisters
