I would like to put on the agenda to discuss or vote, to changing the annual dates away from the first two weeks in June as this interferes with several state reunions and cuts down on attendance as quite a few

The purpose of this email is to challenge EVERY mem-ber of the SCV Mechanize Cavalry to give to the defense fund of the Museum of the Confederacy. Any amount is ac-ceptable, from $10 to $10,000. Why was the 2-C Maryland members problem not addressed by the S.C.V. after we got the members out of our organization as was agreed upon by the then C.I.C Michael Givens, we agreed to clean up our own mess if they would back us and do their part! STONE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL SERVICE. – Colonel Kevin Stone – Last year $900.00 was used for members to be admitted to the grounds. This year the price should be free for all SCVMC members. A motion was made by 1st Bat. Co. D Captain Pat McMurry to spend $300.00 on each cannon for Stone Mountain with a crew max of 10. 2nd was by 3rd Bat. Co B Captain Tim Hawkins. After discussion the motion passes.

The stone was inscribed and probably says it best the reason for the dedication: “In memory of the men of Alabama who bravely fought and died at the Battles of Franklin & Nashville. Alabama Infantry Regiments: 1st, 10th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 22th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, 31th, 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 35th, 36th, 38th, 39th, 45th, 46th, 49th, 50th, 55th, 57th, 58th. Alabama Artillery Batteries: Deit’s Alabama Battery, Selden’s Ala-bama Battery, Garrity’s Alabama Battery, Kolb’s Alabama Battery, Eufaula Alabama Battery, Phellan’s Alabama Battery, Lumsden’s Alabama Battery, Goldtwaite’s Alabama Battery. 7th Alabama Cavalry Regi-ment. Mourn not that these Great men died, but be thankful they lived. Erected by: Alabama Division Sons of Confederate Veterans, Mechanized Cavalry 1st Battalion Company D.”

This monument is dedicated to all the brave men from the state of Alabama who fought and died defending our beloved southland in the battles of Franklin and Nashville during the war of northern aggression. Thes are sacred grounds that we walk upon and should always stand as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice’s that were made her. Remember these men always, and teach your children the truth about how and why this war was fought.
