Hi, everyone!

This newsletter is the second and

the last one that I’m going to

publish as your Lt.G. at Large.

The main purpose of this last-

minute newsletter is to

“K”ommunicate with you before

my term ends!

Even though my term was very

short, I really enjoyed being on

the board because I could

communicate with you and also

because I made valuable

memories as a PNW Cirlce K

board member.

It’s really sad that my term as

Lt.G. at Large has come to an

end. But, my passion for service

will never die, and I’m looking

forward to more Circle K years to come!

• School: Gonzaga University• Year: Junior• Major: Civil Engineering, Philosophy minor• Interesting Fact: “I’m a vegetarian!”• “I’ve been on the board of Circle K at Gonzaga since my freshman

year of college, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been able to pursue and develop as a result of my involvement. This term, I serve as Vice President, and it has been a rewarding and existentially prosperous year thus far. Last year, I was able to organize a St. Baldrick’s Event at Gonzaga, through the Circle K club. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-governmental funder of childhood cancer research in the United States. They are able to do this through independent head-shaving event. In November of 2014, I, and 36 other Gonzaga students and members of the Spokane community shaved our heads, and raised nearly sixteen-thousand dollars for research. It was truly an incredible experience, and I could not have done it without the support of my fellow CKI members. Also, we made some rad tie-dye shirts.”

for a community where we would all have a common goal of living a life of service. Though my entire college experience has been filled with compassionate individuals, Circle K has had a way of gathering humble servants of the community that I have always admired and am proud to know. The community has helped to shape my character into one that seeks out how I can make a difference in the world, one service project, organization, or person at a time. I love Circle K and all that Kiwanis communities’ represent!”

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser

(Gonzaga University)

11/22/2014“St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-governmental funder

of childhood cancer research in the United States.

They are able to raise these funds through

independent head-shaving events that take place

across the country. Gonzaga’s Circle K hosted

Spokane’s first ever St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event,

and it was very successful. Thirty-seven people

shaved their heads, and together, we were able to

raise $15,810. The event was publicized in the schoolnewspaper twice, and one of the coordinators was

interviewed by a local news channel.”

Project Homeless Connect Youth

where we had the participants explain what was

needed that wasn’t there and what was good that

was there. It was a “one stop shop” for homeless

people who needed free dental, medical, and other

services including clothing and personal care items.”

1/25/2015, @The Academy Retirement Center“Every Saturday at 9 am, Gonzaga University CKIstudents go to The Academy Retirement Center and

join them in their main activity room, having donuts,

coffee, tea, and fantastic conversations. Though this

doesn’t seem like much, many of these residents no

longer have family, so we act as a type of surrogate

family in that we take a genuine interest in their lives,as they do in ours.”

“K”OMMUNICATION

You probably realized that I’m using the word “Kom-

munication” a lot in my emailsand newsletters. (My newsletters

are titled as “Kommunication”!)It’s the word I use to refer to

communication between me and you, between club and District, or in between

K Family organizations. During my term, my main goal was to “K”ommunicate with my clubs as much as possible. I really want to

thank everyone who actively “K”ommunicatedwith me! Thank you for making my term

special with your “K”ommunication!

This newsletter is mainly composed ofthe result of “K”ommunication between youand me. Monthly reports were one of the main methodof “K”ommuncation; however, I also sent out theclub “K”ommunication form because I wanted to hearyour club’s story – more than what’s written in formalmonthly reports. Thank you for everyone who took timefor monthly reports and “K”ommunication form! You’rethe ones who made this newsletter even more special!

“We had Christmas party of the residents of Roolan

Nursing Home in Lacey, WA.”

Gonzaga University – January

“We helped out a fellow school club by volunteering

at the Intercultural Student Union dinner. The evening

was geared to sharing the variety of cultures within

Gonzaga's campus through food and performance.”

Saint Martin’s University – January

“As horrible as the [car] accident was, it brought the

club together as a family because two of our own

needed us. We bonded more. I didn't think that

would be possible, because we are already so close.

Every club member helped and was involved.”
