Wonderware Training Learning Paths

There are two distinct learning paths available for your technical training needs. The correct learning

path depends on which Wonderware products comprise the infrastructure of your system or

solution:

Wonderware System Platform, or

Wonderware InTouch

While both learning paths share certain courses, each one has a different entry point:

The Wonderware System Platform learning path starts with the Application Server

training course

The Wonderware InTouch learning path starts with the InTouch - Part 1 training

course

It is important to note that the Wonderware InTouch product is used as the visualization component

regardless of the infrastructure in place, but we have designed and developed InTouch training

courses tailored specifically for each infrastructure:

The InTouch for System Platform training course is designed for users of applications

based on the Wonderware System Platform infrastructure. It teaches how to use the

InTouch product as the visualization component of object-based applications built

with Application Server.

The InTouch - Part 1 and Part 2 training courses are designed for users of tag-based

applications created with Wonderware InTouch.

Some of our courses can be taken standalone, that is, they don't have another class as a pre-

requisite (for example, Historian Client training or IntelaTrac training). This is not the case for the

majority of our training courses, which require knowledge of other products.

InTouch 2014 – Part 1

The InTouch 2014 – Part 1 course is a 4-day, instructor-led class focused on Managed InTouch

Application design. The course provides a fundamental understanding of the basic principles of the

Wonderware visualization module and the steps necessary to develop a Human Machine Interface

(HMI) system for your specific plant floor. Lectures and hands-on labs guide you through setup,

layout, best practice concepts, features and functions of the InTouch Software platform. Hands-on

labs reinforce concepts and features.

Duration: 4 days

Who should attend?

Plant floor operators and managers, system administrators, system integrators, and other

individuals who need to use the InTouch HMI software in manufacturing processes.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with Microsoft Windows

Manufacturing industry experience recommended

Create a Galaxy

Create a Managed InTouch application

Use WindowMaker to create windows and manipulate objects

Create and import tags, and use the Tagname Dictionary

InTouch 2014 – Part 2

InTouch 2014 – Part 2 tag-based course is a 4-day course focused on tag-based application design

strategy through reusability, scalability, and reduced maintenance. The course uses lectures and

hands-on labs to provide an introductory look at high-performance HMI design, leveraging the new

WW Situational Awareness Library and advanced application navigation strategies.

This course introduces new InTouch 2014 features, including an in-depth coverage of the Galaxy

Style Library, Element Styles, Symbol Wizard, Point Animation, and Alarm Border animation. The

course covers a variety of complimentary and contrasting approaches to application design, which

will expand student knowledge, including scripting through Indirect Tags, ShowSymbol,

ShowGraphic, ArchestrA .NET scripting, I/O failover, and OS Security. Part 2 also covers InTouch

features, such as Remote Tags from Tag Servers and using Distributed Alarms and Distributed

History, as well as Best Practice concepts through practical, real-world application design.

Engineers, SIs, Consultants, and other individuals who need to use InTouch in their manufacturing.

InTouch Part 1 and Manufacturing experience

The InTouch for System Platform 2012 R2 course is a 4-day, instructor-led class designed to provide

a fundamental understanding of the features and functionality of how the Wonderware Application

Server provides visualization for your plant galaxy data using ArchestrA Symbols by seamlessly

integrating the InTouch for System Platform software.

The focus of this course is to illustrate the use of visualization tools in the Wonderware Application

Server to provide a Human Machine Interface (HMI) utilizing connectivity to the Galaxy, graphic

symbols, animations and scripting features and functionality found in InTouch WindowMaker,

ArchestrA Symbols, the ArchestrA Symbol Editor and QuickScript.NET.

The course will use lectures and hands-on labs to provide a fundamental understanding and

reinforce the knowledge of how to apply alarm, trending and history controls for visualization, and

how to secure an InTouch application.

Duration: 4 days

Who should attend?

Engineers, application developers, system integrators, and other individuals who need to develop

Galaxies for System Platform applications.

Prerequisites:

Attendance of the Application Server course

Attendance of the Historian Client course is recommended to obtain knowledge of

the Historian Client Trend component

Create and deploy new InTouch Managed applications using the ArchestrA IDE

Create ArchestrA Symbols

Embed ArchestrA Symbols in Automation Objects & reference the object’s attributes

Historian Server 2014

The Historian Server 2014 for course is a 2-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a

fundamental understanding of the features and functionality of Historian Server. This course

provides lectures and hands-on labs to supply and reinforce the knowledge necessary to use

Wonderware Historian Server. This includes how to configure, ‘historize’, and retrieve Application

Server data using multiple retrieval modes, local and remote summarization, replication, event

monitoring, store-and-forward, redundancy, and other features.

Duration: 2 days

Who should attend?

This training is designed for: system integrators, consultants, engineers, and technical professionals

who need to configure and use the product in a variety of manufacturing settings.

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of Wonderware Application Server or Wonderware InTouch

Knowledge of databases and SQL language


Objectives:

Configure and historize InTouch and Application Server data

Execute queries against the Historian Server Runtime database

Configure the summarization and replication of historical data on local and remote

historians

Insert and modify data manually with queries and .CSV files

Configure and monitor Events in InTouch or System Platform

Historian Client 2014

The Wonderware Historian Client course is a 2-day, instructor-led class designed to provide you with

a fundamental understanding of the Wonderware Historian Client suite of tools.

The Wonderware Historian Client trending, analysis, and reporting software offers a suite of data

analysis and reporting clients that maximize the value of data stored on Wonderware Historian.

Wonderware Historian Client enables individuals at all levels of an organization to easily access

plant- and process-related data through simple point-and-click dialog boxes.

Duration: 2 days

Who should attend?

Plant floor operators, managers, and other individuals whose jobs include using Wonderware

Historian data for assessment and/or reporting within production or administrative environments

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of InTouch

Knowledge of Wonderware Historian Server

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word


Objectives:

Retrieve Wonderware Historian data with the help of the Wonderware Historian

Client software

Use the data in its appropriate context, including historical and real-time trend

manipulation, and production-related reporting within Microsoft Excel and Word




Application Server 2014

The Application Server 2014 course is a 4-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a

fundamental understanding of the features and functionality of Wonderware Application Server.

This course provides lectures and hands-on labs to supply and reinforce the knowledge necessary to

use the ArchestrA tools and services in the System Platform for plant modeling.

The class will demonstrate how to use Wonderware Application Server to utilize the ArchestrA

technology to connect to field devices, process data, run scripts, handle alarms, and historize alarms

and events. This is achieved using features and functionality such as Automation Objects, templates,

instances, the ArchestrA Integrated Development Environment (IDE), and the QuickScript .NET

scripting engine.

This course also provides a fundamental understanding of Galaxy maintenance, real-time alarm

recording and security settings, and how to setup redundancy.

The Information Server 2012 R2 course is a 2-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a

fundamental understanding of the features and functionality of Wonderware Information Server

2012 R2. This course provides lectures and hands-on labs designed to provide an early learning

experience.

The class will demonstrate how to use Information Server to setup and configure your web portal,

develop an Information Server system to retrieve and monitor the plant-wide production

information, organize the information into various effective and well-designed formats, and manage

the access security to the information.

setup and administration of Wonderware Information Server

Wonderware Intelligence 1.1

The Wonderware Intelligence course is a 2-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a

fundamental understanding of the features and functionality of Wonderware Intelligence 1.1. The

class provides lectures and hands-on labs to supply and reinforce the knowledge necessary to use

Wonderware Intelligence to access, aggregate, contextualize (provide relationships), and visualize

plant data from disparate data sources. This course addresses the configuration of the main

Intelligence elements to deploy and execute the Intelligence model and covers the client tools used

for content authoring, visualization, sharing, and collaboration.

Duration: 2 days

Who should attend?

Engineers, IT personnel, System Integrators, Consultants, and other individuals who need to use the

Wonderware Intelligence software in their manufacturing processes

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of Wonderware System Platform

Knowledge of databases and SQL language


Objectives:

Configure Intelligence components in the Configurator application

Create and deploy a dimensional model, which includes one or more data sources,

using the Intelligence automation objects

Implement dimensional slicing to aggregate data in specific time intervals

Create complex Intelligence models using linked dimensions to create the

MES 2012 Performance

The Wonderware MES 2012 - Performance course is a 2-day instructor-led course that provides

lectures and hands-on labs designed to provide a good working knowledge of MES – Performance

features to develop MES applications. It addresses the configuration and deployment of a data

collection system to allow the analysis and reporting of equipment utilization, quality and

performance using the ArchestrA architecture.

and reporting

Use Wonderware MES - Performance as a central downtime information repository

and reporting tool

Retrieve and report the downtime data and analyse Overall Equipment Effectiveness

(OEE)




MES 2012 Quality

The MES 2012 - Quality course is a 2-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a fundamental

understanding of the features and functionality of Wonderware MES Software/Quality. This course

provides lectures and hands-on labs designed to provide an early learning experience. The class will

demonstrate how to use Wonderware MES Software/Quality to address the configuration and

deployment of a data collection system to allow for the analysis and reporting of Quality

Management data using a Sample Recording Object.

Duration: 2 days

Who should attend?

Application developers, engineers, system integrators, consultants, and other individuals who need

to use MES Software/Quality in their manufacturing or other processes.

Completion of an Application Server course

Completion of an InTouch for System Platform course

Completion of an MES Software – Operations course

MES 2012 Operations

The MES 2012 – Operations course is a 4-day, instructor-led class designed to provide a fundamental

understanding of the features and functionality of Wonderware MES Software/Operations. This

course provides lectures and hands-on labs designed to provide an early learning experience. The

class will demonstrate how to use MES Software/Operations to addresses the configuration and

definition of the operations model, product definition, and production capabilities; implementation

of production execution and data collection; and reporting of traceability and genealogy

information. This course also covers integration between Wonderware MES Software/Operations

and System Platform.

Duration: 4 days

Who should attend?

Engineers, IT personnel, System Integrators, Consultants, and other individuals who need to use the

Wonderware Intelligence software in their manufacturing processes

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of Application Server

Knowledge of InTouch for System Platform, specifically the use and configuration of

InBatch 2012

The InBatch 2012 course is a 4-day instructor-led class that provides you with a fundamental

overview of the concepts and terms associated with Wonderware InBatch Software. The course

includes providing you with the opportunity to apply the product to a batch process application.

InBatch is flexible batch management software designed to model and automate batch-oriented

production processes.

InBatch software allows users to quickly and easily create recipes and simulate their execution

against a model of the process—all before writing one line of control code.

InBatch software's powerful batch engine reduces the time to automate batch processes by 40 to

create end-to-end manufacturing scenarios spanning across systems and human workforces.

The class provides lectures and hands-on labs to illustrate the configuration, definition, execution,

and analysis of workflows using the System Platform Extension and Connector for integration with

Application Server.

This course uses the Skelta BPM 2014 software and the ArchestrA Workflow (AWS) 2012 Overview

course materials.

Duration: 3 days

local Wonderware Australia office to discuss the suitability of this course to your needs.

This combines courses Application Server (normally 4 days) and InTouch for System Platform

(normally 4 days) into a single 5 day accelerated program.

InTouch 2014 – Part 1 + InTouch 2014 – Part 2

This accelerated course is offered to those students who have previous experience in SCADA

applications. The course is accelerated and is NOT suitable for new users of SCADA products. Contact

your local Wonderware Australia office to discuss the suitability of this course to your needs.

This combines courses InTouch Part 1 (norm ally 4 days) and InTouch Part 2 (normally 4 days) into a

single 5 day accelerated program.
