Following a campaign led by local Conservatives with the support of West Shoebury residents, these proposals were dropped. An alternative budget was put forward by Southend Conservatives which would have seen Council Tax frozen and saved 11 litter bins in Shoeburyness from being axed. This Administration, as part of their budget proposals, wanted to axe the textiles collection service. Following Conservative pressure, a collection service has been retained where residents can still use any surplus white sacks they have or put textiles in carrier bags for collection. Car parking charges have risen on average by 11%. The Administration wanted to raise car parking charges at Shoebury Common by 20%. Following pressure by local Conservatives this plan was scrapped. Many residents have complained that the parking situation around Shoeburyness High School has got worse. Local Conservatives have launched a questionnaire with local residents to see what parking measures they would like to try and solve the problem. Tony COX Derek JARVISThe local choice for West Shoebury

As local Shoebuyness residents we are

    standing to represent our local

    community.

We will stand up for local residents and

    always put West Shoebury residents

    first.

  • Right: Public Toilets Under Threat The Administration proposed closing two public

toilets in Shoeburyness. This proposal was

    dropped following pressure from local

Conservatives but the Leader has not ruled out

closing them in the future. A Conservative

Council will keep our public toilets open.

Right: Cuts To Council Services The administration have scrapped white textile

recycling sacks, axed our waste contractor Cory,

taken over 1 Million out of the waste budget

and as part of the budget, made 5 Envirocrime

Team officers who investigate fly tipping and

issue on the spot fines for dog fouling

    redundant.

    Above: Car Parking

Charges Up Despite claiming that high

    parking charges hit local

    businesses, parking charges

    have been raised on average

by 11% and by 20% in the

    Town Centre. A Conservative

    Administration will freeze car

    parking charges and pledge

    to reduce them where

    possible.

    Left: Council Tax

    Increased The Administration have raised

    Council Tax by 1.95%.

    Conservatives would have

    frozen Council Tax by taking

    the Government Council Tax

    freeze grant.

Left: 11 Litter Bins To Be

Axed in Shoebury This administration plans to

    remove 11 litter bins in

    residential areas. Some

    Administration members

    suggested removing even

    more.

    Above: 25% Of Kids To

Go To A Failing School After 95,000 was taken out

    of the School Improvement

    budget, this Administration

plan to make it acceptable for

a quarter of our children to go

to a poor or failing school.

The Independent/Labour/Lib Dem plan for Southend

The Independent Party, Labour and Lib Dem plan, supported by

UKIP, is one of wasteful spending, more borrowing, higher taxes and

charges. The Conservative way is one of delivering high quality value

for money services that Southend can be proud of. This is the choice

    at this election.

Cuts to Services, higher taxes and charges

Remember: UKIP voted for these cuts
