Our summer camps are dynamic arts and culture experiences delivered in French by artists and professionals who are experts in their fields.

Our well-trained camp monitors support our camp leaders by helping in the delivery of rich and varied play-based learning programs.

Our young camp ambassadors share their passion for the camp theme and encourage camp participants in their learning experience en français!

THE “SIX WEEKS IN ONE” CAMP

June 29th to July 3rd (Wednesday off) at Carl A. Nesbitt Public School

A WHOLE SUMMER IN ONE WEEK! Your child will experience an entire summer full of fun in this marvelous “camp of all camps”. It’s truly a special week: as summer begins, it provides an exciting overview of our ten summer camps for 2015. The kids will meet many of the artists and facilitators and take part in sample activities in their various fields. It’s the perfect way help them choose among the upcoming camps! Leadership activities and ice-breaker games help kids make new summer friends. It’s a wide-open door on summer fun!

July 6th to 17th at Carl A. Nesbitt Public School

BUILDING MEANS BETTERING! This camp makes children realize that you can literally build a better world. Guided by an architecture student, the kids will get to transform a selected space by applying real principles of design and layout. But first, you have to plan, and to plan well, you have to make observations, take photos, draw sketches and make models. Lively games and creativity challenges will foster team spirit. When this camp has ended, the children will have left their builders’ mark on their environment.

PLAY IS SERIOUS STUFF! Great scientists say that trying an experience « just to see what happens » sometimes brings major discoveries. Likewise, children can grasp the wonders of science through play. Facilitated by an expert in play-based science learning, this camp stimulates scientific curiosity and observation through fascinating play that reveals the laws of the physical world. Children direct their imagination and creativity to resolving intriguing problems and their self-esteem grows with success. That’s because eureka is a cry of joy!

A WORLD TOUR ON THE WINGS OF ART! This camp introduces children to far-away lands through arts and crafts projects under the direction of a master of cultural awareness experiences for kids. There will be Haida drums from Western Canada, Taino art from the Caribbean, petroglyphs from Haiti, clay sculptures from Mexico, watercolors from England and more! The kids will bring home many masterworks of their own creation, as well as mind full of images of the vast world that surrounds us.

THE “PLANET ARTS” CAMP WITH LOUISE BERGERON OF CAMÉLÉART

August 4th to 14th at Carl A. Nesbitt Public SchoolPerformance on Friday August 14th

EAU LÀ LÀ, WHAT FUN! Take African music, dance and percussion and add water: it’s a recipe for great fun! Justine Gogoua brings children together in the joy of movement and the fascination of cultural encounters. The kids will create sounds and gestures inspired by ocean waves and river rapids. They’ll put on rubber boots filled with water for a truly splashing dance experience! They’ll paint a “water canvas” to serve as a backdrop for a magnificent performance, “Un regard’eau”, to which parents are invited! What a water load of fun!

THE “FEATS OF THE CIRCUS” CAMPWITH FRANCIS TOUSIGNANT OF SIRKAFRAN

August 17th to 21st

at Carl A. Nesbitt Public SchoolPerformance on Friday August 21st

WOW! WHAT SKILL! Circus arts are not only spectacular; they’re an opportunity for fun physical activity that’s different from sports or training. They develop balance, endurance, patience, creativity, reflexes and much more. Two circus arts experts, SirKaFran, alias Francis Tousignant, and his colleague Christian Theriault, teach kids to perform amazing tricks that motivate them to practice, concentrate and outdo themselves. Their efforts will lead up to a public circus arts performance to which parents are invited!

NO NEED TO BRING FOOD! Because Carrefour francophone’s centres are peanut and nut-free environments, we’ll take care of the food. A hot and varied lunch prepared by COOP Boréal and two healthy snacks are provided each day.

Our family of services, serving your family!

We care about families who care about French! Carrefour francophone is a cultural and community centre for all of Greater Sudbury.

We provide child care programs in our before and after school centres called Tremplins and our 8 garderies (child care centres). We offer a series of Francophone and French immersion camps d’été (summer camps), as well as music lessons in our music program called Clé de sol (‘Key of G’). We present live musical performances through our concert promotion house, La Slague.
