• All answers must be recorded on the answer document within the 5 hour time period.
• Time begins after directions are read. Cell phone timers cannot be used. You must have a clock in your room.
• Communicate (orally and in writing) the amount of time left to test in 1 hour intervals and in 15 minutes intervals during the last hour.
REMINDERS
Dictionaries and Thesauruses
• It is required to provide English-language dictionaries and thesauruses to students taking the STAAR and STAAR A EOC tests.
• We have ordered more dictionaries and it is our goal to have approximately 20 dictionaries and 3 thesauruses per testing room. (If you are using someone’s room, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have dictionaries and thesauruses!)
• Foreign language dictionaries are not permitted.
• ESL students may use a standard dictionary, an ESL dictionary, or a bilingual dictionary.

NEW TEST:STAAR-A
(This test is available for special ed students and students identified with dyslexia
that meet specific requirements)
In accordance with 19 TAC §101.3031(b)(2) and as described in the Test
Security Supplement, any person who violates, assists in the violation of, or
solicits another to violate or assist in the violation of test security or
confidentiality, as well as any person who fails to report such a violation, is
subject to the following penalties:
• placement of restrictions on the issuance, renewal, or holding of a
Texas educator certificate, either indefinitely or for a set term;
• issuance of an inscribed or non-inscribed reprimand;
• suspension of a Texas educator certificate for a set term; or
• revocation or cancellation of a Texas educator certificate without
opportunity for reapplication for a set term or permanently.
If you feel like a testing irregularity has occurred, you must report it to the campus coordinator.
Release or disclosure of confidential test content is a class C misdemeanor and
could result in criminal prosecution under TEC §39.0303, Section 552.352 of the
Texas Government Code, and Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code. Further,
19 TAC §249.15 stipulates that the State Board for Educator Certification may
take any of the above actions based on satisfactory evidence that an educator
has failed to cooperate with TEA in an investigation.
In addition, any irregularities in test security or confidentiality may result in the
invalidation of students’ assessments.
Procedural ViolationsEligibility Errors
• an eligible student was not administered the test
IEP or 504 Issues
• a student was given STAAR instead of STAAR-M
• Student did not receive an approved accommodation or received an accommodations that was
approved
Improper Account of Secure Materials –
• Testing personnel lost or misplaced an answer document, test booklet, or other secure material
Monitoring Errors –
• Test administrator left a room unmonitored when students and secure materials were present
• Test administrator left secure materials unattended
• Test administrator did not verify that a student recorded his or her responses and accepted a
blank answer document from the examinee
• Students who had not finished testing where not properly monitored while being moved or
during lunch
• Test administrator did not actively monitor students and did not detect the improper use of a
dictionary or calculator
• Test administrator did not ensure that students worked independently during testing
• Students were not prevented from using cell phones or other electronic devices to take
pictures or send messaged
Serious Violations• Directly OR indirectly assisting students with responses to test questions
• Tampering with student responses
• Falsifying TELPAS holistic ratings or STAAR Alternate student performance data
• Viewing secure test content before, during, or after an administration or viewing STAAR
Alternate performance data during or after an assessment
• Discussing secure test content, student responses, or student performance
• Duplicating, recording, or capturing electronically secure test content without permission
from TEA
• Scoring student tests, either formally or informally
• Fraudulently exempting or preventing a student from the administration of a required
state assessment
