TheBrowardCollegeChapterofAFChasbeenunderwaywithmanyactivitiesandstrategicplansfor2015!Tonameafew:
InJanuary,theBrowardCollegeChapterparticipatedintheAFCLeadershipConferenceinGainesville,FL.6membersattendedandreturnedtotheinstitutionwithvaluableinformationonhowtoenhanceourAFCeffortsamongstemployees.
InFebruary,theBrowardCollegeChapterhelditsannualValentine’sDayCarnationSalefundraiser,wherewedeliveredover1000carnationscollegewidetoshowhowmuchwecareforandappreciateourcolleagues,receivingover$1700.00insales,withalargeportiongoingbacktotheChapterforincreasedsocialandprofessionaldevelopmentactivities.
InMarch,theBrowardCollegeChapterparticipatedintheAFCRegionVConferencewhereweledtheWomeninDistressServiceProjectcollecting61itemsofprofessionalclothing,alongwithshoesandpursesthatcontributedtoover150itemsbeingcollectedoverallbytheRegion!TheChapterhad10membersinattendance,enthusiasticaboutlearningmoreaboutwhattheAssociationcandoforthem,andhowtheycanbecomemoreengagedinactivities!
TheBrowardCollegeAFCChapterhasheld3boardmeetingsin2015thatwe
havemadeopentogeneralmembers.Greatinitiativeshavebeendiscussedandareintheprocessofimplementation,including,butnotlimitedto:

PalmBeachStateCollegeended2014onahighnotebyconcludingtheyearwithasuccessfulholidaypartybeforethewinterbreak,withapproximately35attendees.PBSCraffleraised$250andhadaKindleFireasthegrandprize.UponreturningtoworkinJanuary,thePBSCchapterwentintooverdriveandbeganworkingwiththeRegionVExecutiveBoardinplanningtheRegionalConference.PleasefindbelowamonthlylistingofactivitiesforthePBSCchapter:

TheSlidetheCityevent,heldindowntownWestPalmBeach,gaveusadiscountcodewhichrecorded41ticketsales.After,weattendedaGreenEarthcelebrationonthenextblockattheMeyerAmphitheater.
SaturdaybreakfastattheWestPalmBeachGreenMarket.Wehad9inattendance,includingtheProvostoftheEisseyCampuswhichislocatedinPalmBeachGardens.
March:
AsocialhonoringPBSCPresident,Dr.DennisGallon.ThiswastheeveningbeforetheRegionVconference.Wehadapproximately40inattendance.MichaelBrawerpresentedhimwithagiftandoneofourmusicprofessorsplayedapersonalclassicalguitarserenadeforhim.
TheRegionVconference.Wehadalmost100inattendance,including39fromPBSC.Thefocuswassustainabilityandwedesignedanentirethemearoundthisconcept.Oneofourmembersofferedherstudentsasvolunteersandallowedthemtowriteanessayontheirexperienceandobservations.OurserviceprojectwasWomeninDistressofBrowardCounty.Theregioncollectedover200suits.

AFCLegislativeDaysinTallahassee.Wehad4membersinattendance. Ourannualbooksale,inconjunctionwithNationalLibraryWeek.Itwasourmost
successfulfundraisertodate,raisingover$4300forourchapterandAFCScholarship.WedonatedtheunsoldbookstoFaithFarm,alocalcharitythatworkswithalcoholicsandaddictsontheirroadstorecovery.
TheSpecialOlympicsatJohnI.Leonard.Wehad3volunteersinattendance. Wetookacollectionofassortedhygieneitemsforourhomelessstudents.We
gathered2fileboxesofsoaps,shampoos,lotions,toothpaste,mouthwash,feminineproducts,etc.
AsocialgatheringattheBoyntonBeachAleHouse.Wehad16inattendance.
PBSCwillsend7memberstotheJointCommissionConference,whereRayCoulter,PBSCChapterPresident,willbepresentingonbehalfoftheFacilitiesCommission,andDr.BobVanDerVeldewillbepresentingonbehalfoftheAdministrationCommission.InattendancewillbeDr.MagdalaRay,asemifinalistforAFCProfessoroftheYear.PBSCiscurrentlycollectingclothingforthehomelessinthecommunityandisworkingtoinvitelocalpoliticianstovisitandspeakatseveralcampuses.Finally,attheendofMay,PBSCwillbeholdingasocialgatheringtothankallthosememberswhoworkedtosupportthenominationforChapteroftheYear.PBSCwillkeeptheirfingerscrosseduntilNovemberinhopesofbeingthevictorforChapteroftheyear.
