Sarasota Music Conservatory Class descriptions Instrumental & Voice Private Lessons: 30, 45, 60 minute one (student) on one (teacher) lesson weekly or bi-weekly. Musical Development• Theory: 30 minutes (level 1) or 45 minutes class (other levels) weekly. All basics

of music theory are approached, helping students understand the “rules” of music.Theory is to music what grammar is to language. Different classes offered to fiteach student’s level.

• Solfege/Ear Training: 30 minute (level 1) or 45 minute class weekly. Studentslearn the language of music called “Solfege”, and through fun exercises andsinging, train their ears to recognize pitches. Great for sight reading, improvisingand learning music repertoire in a shorter amount of time.

• Music-history: 60 minute class weekly. Also called music history, music-appreciation is a very insightful class, where students travel through time to learnabout the lives of famous composers, musicians, and the history behindinstruments. An in-depth vision approach that will certainly fascinate all studentswishing to learn more about the history of music.

Special Classes• Performance class: 90 or 120 minute’s session monthly. Only open to students

enrolled in private classes. Students perform for each other and their teachers, andreceive and give feedback to one another. All aspects of the performance areapproached: stage freight, stage presence, etiquette, interpretation and musicality.Thanks to this class, students get used to playing in public and become familiarwith the process which results in a better enjoyment of public performance.

• Master-Class: 1 class per Semester, access upon teacher’s recommendation. Upto 6 “active” students and unlimited number of students can participate asauditors. Once per semester, a musical personality comes to the school and gives amaster-class. The master-classes are open to the public, and feature either apedagogue from a major music school, a local music personality, or even aperforming soloist. The performing students receive feedback and advice on theirperformance from the guest teacher, bringing a vital perspective on their ownplaying.
