To whom this may concern:

We are The Power Hawks Robotics Club, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, part of

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an international

organization whose goal is to promote an interest in engineering and technology in students. The

Power Hawks Robotics Club, Inc. strives to inspire students to pursue STEM ideals, while

helping prepare them with the tools needed for success in future endeavors.

Along with building robots, we are actively involved in the community with our outstanding

outreach programs. Tutoring at the local middle school, hosting a yearly summer camp in which

students build and use robots for learning, and Soaring Engineers—a program in which we

branch out to schools and businesses to teach about robotics—are a few examples of the

multitude of events we participate in to inspire and help our community.

However, we are unable to do all of this without the support of our dedicated sponsors and

mentors. Due to the immense amount of capital and material costs, our team spends over $86,000

a year to design, build, and field multiple competitive robots. More than 75 students rely on the

support that you could provide through materials, workforce training, mentoring, media

appearances, project management, and hands on learning.

Please contact me if you are interested in sponsoring our amazing program or if you have any

questions.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Very respectfully,

Daquan Proctor and the Power Hawks Robotics Team

FRC®

(FIRST Robotics Competition)

FRC is the highest level of the FIRST organization and is comprised of students in grades 9-12.

The competitions are a culmination of a six week “build season” in which a team works to solve

a common robot design problem which changes from year to year. The Power Hawks have both

a build and business department that work together to build a 120 pound robot and spread the

mission of FIRST in the community.

Meet the Robot!

Griffin was built in 2016 by the Power Hawks for

StrongholdSM, a tower capture where an alliance attempts to

get as many ‘boulders’ –rubber balls –as possible into the

opposing alliances tower. Using an input/output arm, the robot

maneuvered around defenses and guided the ‘boulders’

through intake. These ‘boulders’ were later scored in the low

goal or the high goal using the shooting mechanism. Not only

could Griffin score goals, the robot could also maneuver under

the low bar, one of the obstacles to cross to the other

alliance’s side.

FTC®

(FIRST Technology Challenge)

FTC is a global program for students in grades 7-12 also run by FIRST. The Power Hawks FTC

program consists of three teams: the Jr. Power Hawks (3583), the Talons (3796), and the Mech

Hawks (5178). Each team builds an 18” x 18” x 18” robot, with the goal of completing complex

challenges for points, and participate in FIRST and community outreach.

Meet the Robots!

Team 3796 built two robots

during the 2016 season,

Kenny, which focused on

climbing the mountain, and

Peanut, which pushed debris

around the field.

Scorpion was built by team

5178 with the goal of

climbing the mountain and

ideally hanging during the

end game. The robot placed

fourth place in the first

competition and was selected

by the third seeded alliance

for the final rounds.

With the strategy of climbing

the mountain, team 3583’s

robot–Smash–successfully

reached the second of the

three levels. The two jointed

arm allowed the robot to

complete the task as well as

pushing debris on the field.

What people are saying about our program

“FIRST Robotics has changed my life by giving me

the skills to lead, and the confidence to try things I

never would have done before. I will see the

results of my participation in FIRST for the rest of

my life, and I’m grateful to everyone who has

helped me in FIRST.”

-Clay N, FRC

"Our son has gained so much more than just

programming or robotics knowledge from his

participation in Power Hawks Robotics. He's

learned about teamwork, community service,

business planning, strategy, website design, time

management and technology careers in a

wonderfully supportive and diverse community.

Amazing!"

-Ms. Christine Jackson, Parent

“As a five-year sponsor of The Power Hawks FRC Robotics

Team, Government Services IPT has received great

benefits and rewards. Through our sponsorship, we were

able to contribute to promoting the nation’s future

scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. The firm gained

visibility with some of our clients, such as NOAA, NASA

and DOD, through secondary marketing and logo

placement on the shirts and robot. The students

demonstrated the robot’s capabilities during our corporate

events for the employees and their families. And of course,

the sponsorship is tax deductible! By contributing to the

Power Hawks, we were able to see immediate and

tangible results not often found with other donations.”

-Ms. Susan Ballard-Hirsch, Sponsor, GSIPT
