EMMEDIA is proud to present the 2nd PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival, a unique 5-day event that will celebrate the critical innovation and creativity present in the media arts community.
This festival will showcase an art form that by it’s very nature, is constantly evolving and growing with the integration of everchanging technological processes.
Exhibitions, installations and performances by local and national artists will be showcased in Calgary, along with a screening, workshop and artist talks. Join us through February 4-8, 2015 and EMmerse yourself in media art!

The third installation in a series of large multi-projector works, more than a dozen diapositive film slides of locations around Calgary are projected on a large wall, appearing as a strange but plausible diorama.

An exhibition featuring installations by emerging media artists Carlin Brown, Christopher Donovan, and Maeve Orlady.
Featuring performances by Jennie Vallis, Shawn Pinchbeck, Tasman Richardson, and DJ Corinthian featuring live video performance by Orthicon.
Moderated by Lindsay MacDonald, artists Craig Fahner, Gary James Joynes and Tasman Richardson will discuss their ideas about how sound can take on weight and shape, and how sound is positioned in their work.

Learn the basics of JAWA editing (a style Richardson originated in 1996), in which musical composition and narratives are created entirely from video cut ups.

Based in Toronto, Tasman Richardson's work focuses on entropy, tele-presence, appropriation, synesthesia and JAWA editing.
His investigation of images tests the limits of our cultural and perceptual boundaries, which he breaks apart and reconfigures with disturbing precision.
