At New Student Orientation, You Will Learn about...

l Academics and Career Planning. NSO includes presentations by professors, advising staff, and career staff—and more. You’ll meet one-on-one with an academic advisor, plan your course schedule, and register for classes.

l Hoosier Life. We’ll help prepare you for college with information about roommates, safety, career planning, involvement, and much more.

l Placement Exams. You MUST take the required math and foreign language placement exams online prior to NSO. You can also take optional exams for placement or possible credit toward your degree. Your NSO confirmation will include links and deadlines.

l Housing. Your first day goes well into the evening and we don’t want you to miss a thing. Stay on campus overnight and you’ll be where the action is, including our popular NSO Late Night, featuring the Campus Legends Tour. Your online confirmation will include a link for housing reservations as well as lodging options for parents/guests.

l Travel. Make your travel plans after you receive your electronic confirmation. After May 20, watch your U.S. mail for your preparation packet with final information and your parking pass.

Make Your Reservation TodayWe can’t wait to introduce you to Hoosier life at New Student Orientation (NSO).

1. Log in to your personalized FY(Me) page at fye.indiana.edu. Follow the instructions. You’ll see only the dates available to you based on your academic program and needs. Be sure to update your profile and provide an email address for your parent or guardian.

2. Read your online confirmation very carefully and share it with your family. It includes:

• Information about your required exams.

• Instructions for other tasks you MUST complete before NSO.

• Details about travel, parking, meals, and accommodations during NSO.

3. Watch your email for updates and reminders about your program.

We urge you to attend NSO during June or July. It’s the best way to register for classes and prepare for your first year at IU. If you can’t come in the summer, you will attend the late August program, just prior to Welcome Week. Look for more information on your FY(Me) page.

Orientation FeesThe $149 NSO student fee, which supports Welcome Week and FYE programming throughout the year, will be included with your first IU tuition bill. The parent/guest NSO fee is $30 for one person ($15 for each additional guest) and includes one set of NSO materials. At check-in, you can add guest fees to your IU bill.

Your To-Do ListNew Student Orientation is just one of the things you need to get ready for college life. We can help you organize the rest, including applying for housing and financial aid, setting up your IU email, completing forms, and exploring online resources. Keep your to-do list updated on your FY(Me) page. Be sure to check your IU email often—many offices will send important information to that address.
