31 July 2015 Dr. Michale McComis, Executive Director Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) 2101 Wilson Blvd., Suite 302 Arlington, VA 22201 Re: ACCSC Nominating Committee Dear Dr. McComis: Please accept this letter as my statement of interest in serving on the ACCSC Nominating Committee. Selecting a panel of well-qualified candidates to stand for election to the role of ACCSC Commissioner is an essential component of the accreditation process, and I would be honored to participate in this important activity. The career school sector continues to be subject to rigorous scrutiny from many sources, and the importance of maintaining strong and balanced leadership on the ACCSC Board cannot be underestimated. My experience as a former Commissioner (2007-2013) and as a current Team Leader (2014-Present and 2005-2007) gives me a very broad and diverse appreciation and understanding of the entire accreditation process, and I understand the joys and challenges of serving as a Commissioner. My experience in career education began as fortuitous timing during my job search over 40 years ago, and has led to a fascinating, exciting and fulfilling career with the Gemological Institute of America. I have experienced first-hand all aspects of operating an educational institution comprised of both on-campus and distance learning, from entry-level administrative support through curriculum development, teaching, conflict resolution, alumni development, strategic planning, and executive leadership. I’m very proud that as a result of our great teamwork and outstanding commitment to student success, each of GIA’s U.S. schools received recognition as a School of Excellence during the last renewal of accreditation cycle. It has been my great privilege to work with so many talented and dedicated ACCSC board members, volunteers, and staff members over the years, and I am a strong believer in giving back. As a Nominating Committee member, I will vigorously devote myself to the important job of selecting well-qualified and passionate candidates to serve the ACCSC membership. Sincerely,
