Dear Mountaineer Fans,

On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, thank you for being involved and taking the time to learn more about supporting West Virginia University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. By investing in our talented, young men and women, you ensure that every WVU student-athlete will have the necessary tools to accomplish his or her goals at WVU and beyond.

Whether you are a long-time supporter or a first-time donor, your gift to the Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) has a significant impact on our programs’ success. Every donation to the MAC, no matter the size, provides the necessary resources to educate and guide our 475 deserving Mountaineers. Each day our student-athletes work diligently to achieve their goals of academic growth and athletic success. By giving to the MAC and establishing a relationship as a donor, you become an integral part of WVU Athletics and make a meaningful difference in the lives of each of our student-athletes.

As you read this brochure, please consider how impactful your gift can be and the benefits it provides to our State’s flagship institution. We take great pride in the athletic achievements by our programs, but it is the power and potential of our graduates that is, and will always be our biggest source of pride. Thank you for helping us Advance Scholarship and Build Champions.

Let’s Go Mountaineers!

OUR COMMITMENT

The Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) is the fundraising arm for the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics pays 100% of the scholarships awarded to over 475 student-athletes in 18 varsity sports from generous contributions made by 6,500+ MAC Members.

Your individual and corporate contributions help Advance Scholarship and Build Champions.

WHAT IS THE MAC ANNUAL FUND?

Unrestricted annual fund donations provide you with the opportunity to purchase priority season tickets, parking passes, single game tickets and post-season tickets. MAC annual fund donations provide support to the following areas:

• Student-Athlete Scholarships • Academic Support • Training & Nutrition • Facility Enhancements • Travel Assistance • Recruiting • Equipment Upgrades • Other Budget Relieving Expenses

WHAT IS SPORT SPECIFIC GIVING?Sport specific giving (i.e. 1100 Club, Legacy Fund, Match Point Club) provides direct support to the WVU Athletic program of your choice. Sport specific gifts do not influence your annual giving level or provide priority on season tickets, parking passes, single game tickets or post-season tickets. However, Sport Specific contributions do help increase your priority point total. For more information on all of the sport specific giving options please see page 13.

The cost of competing at the highest level and providing a first-class education for outstanding student-athletes continues to climb. The Mountaineer Athletic Club must grow its membership and level of support in order to keep WVU as one of the nation’s premier athletic programs.

Membership in the MAC is recognized by unrestricted annual gifts that are made between December 1 - November 30. You can contribute at any level, but a minimum gift of $100 is required to activate your annual MAC membership and receive benefits including, but not limited to Priority Points. Renewing and new members have until May 1 to submit payment towards your annual giving level, while enjoying the full benefits of membership throughout the giving year.

As a member of the MAC, you are a vital component to the success of WVU student-athletes in the classroom and on the field of play. Your membership provides WVU student-athletes with the opportunity to proudly say, “I’m a Mountaineer.”

Athletics is a window through which the University is often viewed, with its accomplishments serving as a tremendous recruiting tool and a catalyst for philanthropy to all areas of WVU. Essential private support enables the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to recruit and train elite student-athletes in first-class facilities, fund scholarships, and compete on a level playing field with peer institutions. Financial stability in athletics ultimately breeds success, and success breeds pride amongst WVU’s many alumni and friends.

FOOTBALL &MEN’s

BASKETBALL TICKET

INFORMATION

The MAC is pleased to announce the implementation of an Optional Seat Upgrade Process for WVU Football and Men’s Basketball season ticket holders. Current season ticket holders who are MAC members, will have the option to log into an interactive website to potentially upgrade/relocate seat locations and/or purchase additional season tickets. MAC members who are new season ticket holders will also have the option to login to the interactive website and select your season ticket locations.

Once all football season ticket renewal orders are processed, both new MAC members and established MAC members who are looking to select/relocate their seating location, will be assigned a date and time to explore available seating opportunities. Selection times will be based on your annual giving level, in order from highest to lowest, and total Priority Points within your giving level. It is important to note that this is not a re-seating process. All existing season ticket holders will have the opportunity to maintain the same seat location as this past season as long as you maintain your annual giving level that at least meets the necessary MAC per-seat gift requirement. Existing season ticket holders do not have to participate in the Optional Seat Upgrade Process, if you are content with your current season ticket location.

Members of the MAC staff will be available to personally assist you with any season ticket relocation questions leading up to and throughout the Seat Upgrade Process. Contributions made to the MAC Annual Fund for priority seating/parking benefits count towards your total MAC annual giving level and earn Priority Points at the rate of 2 points per $100. The deadline to make a MAC Annual Fund gift is May 1.

Additional information regarding the Seat Upgrade Process and selection dates will be communicated throughout the MAC giving year.

FOOTBALL PARKING

The tailgating atmosphere in Morgantown is electric and one of the best in the nation. The MAC is proud to offer priority parking options to MAC members on gameday. The chart below displays the minimum contribution and limits for priority parking spaces:

FOOTBALL PRIORITY SEATING

The majority of sections at Milan Puskar Stadium have a “per-seat” gift requirement, which at a minimum, a new season ticket holder is required to make in order to purchase season tickets in that section. However, making this “per-seat” gift does not guarantee that you will receive season tickets in designated sections. All season tickets are subject to availability. If demand exceeds availability in a designated section, seat locations will be assigned in the next best available section.

MAC ANNUAL FUND Gifts to the MAC Annual Fund help WVU Athletics achieve its goal of Advancing Scholarship and Building Champions, by providing the necessary resources for student-athlete scholarships, travel assistance, equipment upgrades, recruiting enhancements, and other essential budget relieving expenses. MAC members who make unrestricted contributions to the Annual Fund are also given the opportunity to purchase season tickets in priority seating areas. Unrestricted Annual Fund gifts qualify for football, men’s basketball and baseball priority seating and parking benefits.

SPORT SPECIFIC GIVING Sport specific giving allows interested contributors to make gifts that are designated to a particular program(s) of your choice. This method of contribution assures that your gift is used to directly fund the sport of your choosing and cover identified needs specific to the program. Contributions to individual sports accelerate each sport’s pursuit of winning championships as well as give our student-athletes a leg up in the classroom. Through sport specific gifts, donors can ensure that the true intent of your gift is being realized by student-athletes in the sport(s) of your choice.

MAC OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVOLVEMENT

MAJOR GIFTS In addition to funding scholarships for WVU student-athletes, MAC members play a pivotal role in the enhancement, construction and maintenance of first-class athletic facilities. For recruiting purposes, it is essential that our facilities exceed the expectations of prospective student-athletes and compare favorably to other schools in the BIG 12 Conference and the nation. As always, maintaining facilities and strategically planning for the future is an ongoing process. Current major gift opportunities are available in facility campaigns, program enhancements, recruiting funds, scholarship endowments and mentorship programs. All major gifts and pledges to WVU Athletics — above and beyond those for football, men’s basketball and baseball ticket priorities — that match or exceed $50,000 qualify for recognition in the All-American Society. All-American Society donors are invited to exclusive events with Mountaineer coaches and administrators throughout the year and are recognized on campus in a variety of ways. All-American Society gifts do not offer football, men’s basketball or baseball season ticket priorities; although they may have an impact on season ticket seating and parking locations should donors also participate in the MAC Annual Fund. For more information on major gift campaigns and the All-American Society, contact the MAC at (800) 433-2072.

ENDOWMENT The primary goal of the Athletic Endowment Program is to fully fund all 350 athletic scholarships through the ongoing establishment of Athletic Endowments. To fully fund all 350 scholarships each year, the principal balance of the Athletic Endowment Fund would need to be $225 million. Each contribution to a current and/or newly created endowment brings WVU Athletics that much closer to fully funding all 350 scholarships, further enabling WVU Athletics to utilize unrestricted dollars generated by the Annual Fund for other essential needs across all varsity sports. By supporting any of the opportunities in the Athletic Endowment Program, you will play a vital role in WVU Athletics’ commitment to its current and future student-athletes’ academic achievement, competitive success and personal growth. Your generous support will be a major contribution to the continuing improvement of WVU Athletics, forever.

PLANNED GIVING JERRY WEST SOCIETY Membership in the Jerry West Society is exclusively offered to those who make commitments of support to the MAC and WVU Athletics in the form of planned gifts. The following are a variety of ways in which to join the Jerry West Society and impact the future of WVU Athletics by creating a lasting legacy today: • Gift provision in a Will or Revocable Trust • Income-Producing Gift • Charitable Lead Trust • Testamentary Gift of Retirement Assets • Life Insurance or Annuity Policy • Property/Real Estate Jerry West Society members receive fifteen (15) Priority Points (one-time) for a planned gift that names the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as the beneficiary.

WHEELS CLUB More than 50 car dealerships support the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through their participation in the Wheels Club. Members provide courtesy vehicles to WVU coaches and administrators. Wheels Club members who participate in the program receive six (6) complimentary football season tickets and (4) complimentary men’s basketball season tickets. MAC annual giving benefits and priority points are based on the value and number of vehicles provided for Athletic Department use and any additional monetary contributions.

BRICK CAMPAIGN Honor a special fan, friend, family member or loved one with an engraved brick located outside Touchdown Terrace at Milan Puskar Stadium or at the WVU Coliseum on the sidewalk in front of the Jerry West Statue. The MAC will engrave your message on a 4” x 8” brick, which will become a permanent part of the WVU landscape for only $150 per brick. Once orders are processed, you will receive a “Thank You” note confirming your order and brick inscription(s). All Brick Campaign gifts are awarded 2

Priority Points for every $100 received in the current giving year. All Brick Campaign gifts are 100% tax deductible. They are processed and receipted by the WVU Foundation. Brick Campaign gifts do not count towards MAC annual giving levels.

VARSITY CLUB FORMER STUDENT ATHLETES The Varsity Club provides a way for all former Mountaineer student-athletes to remain in contact with their athletic program, teammates, coaches and University. Return the matching gift form provided by your company with your contribution to the MAC to increase your gift and benefits level.*If you plan on using your company’s corporate matching gift toward your minimum required donation for priority seating, the matching gift must be received by June 30 each year. Many matching gifts require a significant period of time for processing, so please plan the timing of your gift accordingly. It is the responsibility of the donor to ensure the matching gift is received by the deadline. Gifts received after the deadline will not be applicable toward your current annual giving level. Donors will receive benefits based on the dollar amount that is received, and are personally responsible for making up any necessary difference.

TAX INFORMATION If you make a gift to the MAC in order to purchase priority season tickets, 80% of your contribution is tax deductible. For 100% tax deductibility of your annual contribution, you must decline your right to receive any benefits, including but not limited to priority seating, at the time you make your gift. Only the individual, organization, or business making the contribution is eligible to receive the tax deduction. Major gifts or contributions not associated with ticket priority or other benefits are 100% tax deductible. Mountaineer Athletic Club donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes from the WVU Foundation upon receipt of their donation.

Since the Mountaineer Athletic Club operates within the West Virginia University Foundation, contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. The West Virginia University Foundation, Inc. is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization, and its tax exempt identification number is 556017181.

The Mountaineer Athletic Club encourages donors to seek their own tax and legal counsel in matters related to charitable giving.
