A simple yet reliable air-cooled single-cylinder engine with electric starter nestled in a sturdy, highly rigid steel perimeter frame offers easy-access, hassle-free fun.Complementing the high-revving engine and box-section perimeter frame, a slim, compact package with low seat height, comfortable riding position and low-effort controls enables riders to take full advantage of the long-travel suspension and increased stability offered by the larger wheels and longer wheelbase. Sharp new bodywork complements the spoke aluminium wheels and road tyres, giving the D-Tracker authentic supermoto looks to match its nimble, asphalt-carving potential.

SPORTY, QUICK-REVVING ENGINE The simple, air-cooled single-cylinder engine offers an easy-to-use and highly reliable power plant. Longer gearing results in engine performance focused in the mid-high range, offering a sportier engine character. Response is quick, and once in the high-rpm range the engine continues to pull strongly. Electric start ensures starting is as easy as a quick push of the button.

* The 4-stroke air-cooled single cylinder engine offers a lightweight power plant with both reliability and strong performance.

* Bore and stroke of 58.0 x 54.4 mm yield a displacement of 144 cm3.

* Keihin NCV24 carburettor ensures smooth, quick throttle response.

* Forged piston is lightweight and very tough, for low reciprocating weight.

* Secondary air system contributes low exhaust emissions.

* Exhaust emissions clear Euro-III emissions regulations. A larger catalyser (located at the silencer entrance) ensures emissions regulations continue to be met with the shorter gearing.

† Latin American models do not feature catalysers.

* Silencer features an oval cross-section, giving it a sharp, aggressive design. (Photo 1)

* Electric starter ensures quick, hassle-free starting. (Photo 2)

* 5-speed transmission ensures there is a gear for every situation, enabling quick pick-up when accelerating from a stop, and relaxed cruising ability when riding at higher speeds.

* 45/14 final gearing focuses the engine’s performance in the mid-high rpm range. This contributes to an engine that pulls more strongly as it approaches the top of the rev range, as well as quieter operation in everyday riding situations.

* 5-plate clutch uses three different types of friction plates to ensure durability while reducing clutch noise.

Highly Rigid Perimeter Frame 17” Wheels & Road Tyres

* Base chassis dimensions are the same as those of the new KLX150 series models.

* High ground clearance (270 mm) facilitates clearing obstacles encountered on the road.

* 840 mm seat height and slim seat offer easy accessibility to shorter riders.

* Short 2.1 m turning radius translates to easy manoeuvrability in the city.

* Larger-diameter wheels (14” >> 17”) contribute to increased straight-line stability. They are also better able to handle obstacles and rough sections of road that riders may encounter.

* Road tyres offer excellent traction on paved surfaces, while also allowing riding on unpaved sections. Tyre measurements are as follows:

Front: 100/80-17M/C 52P Rear: 120/70-17M/C 58P

* Previously steel, new aluminium rims contribute to lower unsprung weight.

* A combination of form and function, the frame was also designed to be easy to grip with the legs, offering superior chassis control to the rider.

Ergonomics

* Handlebar positions the grips 13 mm higher and 32 mm farther apart. The new position facilitates control while contributing to increased riding comfort.

* The handlebar is rubber-mounted for reduced vibration transferred to the rider’s hands. Further, the upper triple clamp and handle clamp are separate pieces, making it easier to install an aftermarket handlebar.

* Throttle grips are the same as those on our top-class MX racers. Raised pattern on half of the surface makes them easier to grip.

* With a capacity of 6.9 litres, the fuel tank contributes to long range, minimising the number of fuel stops needed.

* Handy tool box located on the inside of the left side cover features everything necessary for quick, on-the-spot maintenance jobs.

* Passenger footpegs are equipped standard, enabling easy two-up riding.

Other Practical Features* Seams between the shrouds, seat and side covers are very flush, which facilitates control as well as moving around on the bike.

* The flat design of the tank and seat gives the rider greater freedom of movement when changing riding position, and facilitates sitting farther forward.

* Like Kawasaki’s motocross racers, the D-Tracker features two-tone seat leather. The seat’s dappled slip-resistant top surface offers good grip when seated, and its smooth sides add to excellent rider mobility. (Photo 9)
