Welcome, Parents!Year 2
Staff in this year…Class teachers are Miss Horne and
Miss Bird.We are also lucky enough to be supported every morning by Mrs Murphy and Mrs Howes. We are
also supported on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning by Mrs
Drinkwater.

Homework…Power Projects! These will be given out each
week or two weeks (on a Friday) where the children can choose from the given section, a task to have a go at.
Spellings – these will be given out every Friday and tested the following Friday.
Mental Maths – the children will be given instant recall questions to learn every Friday – they will be tested the following Friday.
Mathletics & Bug Club – your child will be given a login for both of these resources.
TimetableMonday – Children will be learning through the creative
curriculum. Tuesday – PE
Wednesday –Children will be learning through the creative curriculum.
Thursday – PE Friday – Spelling test
Mental Maths test Power projects may be due in.
BehaviourAt Wylde Green we are trying to improve children’s
learning behaviour by changing the vocabulary that we use with them and our systems for monitoring
behaviour.Children are asked to make the right ‘choice’ with their behaviour and understand that the consequences are as
follows:Warning.
Move down the ladder ONCE.Move down again. Once they have moved 3 times, they
will be issued a Yellow Card and will spend the next morning break with a teacher.
Red cards are issued for serious offences such as fighting (including play fighting), damaging property and serious
disrespect.
Home Reading books• Your child will be listened to read at least once a week. This will take place on the day indicated on the front of their home reading wallet.• You are expected to read with them and complete and sign their Reading Record with them and hand it in on the nominated day.
Spellings• Your child will be given ten spellings to learn
and practise each week. These spellings will be based upon the high frequency words and words which they will be expected to know in order to help them to complete their SATS tests in Summer 1.• In addition to this they will need to be able to
use and apply the spellings learnt by creating appropriate sentences to show their understanding of the word.
