Founded by father and son-in-law team, Douglas Cook and Troy Bancroft, in 1983, AgroLiquid remains a family business both in its ownership and direction to this day. Reid Abbott, Field Agronomy Manager

Reid Abbott holds a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Texas A&M University. After graduating, he worked as a crop consultant in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles dealing with crops such as corn, wheat, cotton, sorghum, alfalfa, and sunflowers. There, he gained knowledge in all aspects of crop production including seed variety selection, soil fertility, irrigation management, weed, insect, and disease control. Abbott previously worked as a Sales Account Manager for AgroLiquid, before transferring to Field Agronomy Manager in early 2014. In the sales role, Reid was responsible for growing and managing the dealer network in his territory of south Texas and Louisiana. He also assisted his dealers with employee training, customer meetings and product recommendations. As an agronomist, he is working with the sales account manager staff to train the dealer network and provide fertility solutions on a wide array of crops nationwide. He also makes frequent visits to the field to gain knowledge on product performance and further enhance AgroLiquid fertility programs.

J.W. Lemons, Field Agronomy Manager

J.W. Lemons has over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, product management, business development, agriculture production consulting, and landscape and erosion control products and services. He is a PCA/CCA, CPESC and deeply involved in the agricultural industry and community serving as a board member for the Professional Sports Turf Managers Association, on the Stormwater Education Committee for the Building Industry Association, the Program Director for Inland Empire Natural Resources Camp and as Equipment Chair for the National No-Till Committee, among other positions.

Mike Read, Field Agronomy Manager

Mike Read has over 25 years of experience working for international agricultural research organizations and private companies, having worked in agronomy on three different continents over the course of his career. Dr. Read has exceptional expertise in soil fertility, crop nutrition, corn seed production, and coordination of multi-location research trials. He holds a Ph.D. in agronomy from Colorado State University and is the former president of the Puerto Rico Seed Research Association. Dr. Read is also bilingual; he is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dan Peterson, Field Agronomy Manager

Dan comes to us with extensive experience in agriculture. After several years managing hog and grain farms he moved into retail farm supply operations and sales, designing and building grain drying systems and selling seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and feeds. After several years he went out on his own as an agronomist and environmental consultant in northern Illinois, crop consulting on 20,000 acres as well as consulting for municipal waste water treatment districts and the Illinois EPA, winning an award from the Illinois Water Environment Association. For family reasons he eventually moved to Wisconsin where he founded and managed what became Wisconsin’s largest crop consulting firm, with 5 professional agronomists working with 14 different crops. In addition to his agronomy work Dan also provided farm business advisory services to his firm’s clients. He has recent experience in plant nutrient product and market development. Dan has been President of the Wisconsin Association of Professional Agricultural Consultants, member of the WI Certified Crop Advisor board, the WI Cooperative Extension Advisory Council, and others. He enjoys playing cornet and tenor horn with several wind ensembles and is active in his church and community.

John Leif, Field Agronomy Manager

John Leif a Nebraska native, having grown up on a crop and livestock farm. He received a bachelors and master’s degree from the University of Nebraska in agronomy and field crop weed control. Leif also did some graduate work at the University of Minnesota in aquatic crop production (wild rice).

The first portion of Leif’s career was with American Cyanamid and BASK in their crop protection production development group where he worked as a research agronomist. In 2003 Leif joined the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in their Plant Materials Program. Leif conducted research and demostration plots on how to use plants to address natural resources conservation issues. He was the research agronomist for the Rose Lake Plant Material Center in East Lansing for one year and was the manager of the Center for 10 years. During that time the Plant Materials Center provided training and technical tools in the areas of vegetation for erision control and snow management; tree and shrub establishment; native pollinator habitat improvement; and soil health. Leif joined AgroLiquid in 2014.

Dr. Jerry Wilhm, Senior Research Manager

Dr. Wilhm joined AgroLiquid in 1992 and started the Research Department at that time. He started the North Central Research Station with Mr. Cook and Mr. Bancroft in 1994 with 30 acres, and has overseen its growth since. He also coordinates off-site and contract research. While overseeing the entire Research Department, Dr. Wilhm works primarily with field crops. He grew up in Oklahoma and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University, and his Ph.D. in Crop and Soil Sciences from Michigan State University. He worked in the ag-chemical industry prior to joining LIQUID.

Stephanie Zelinko, Field Agronomy Research Manager

Zelinko started with AgroLiquid in the spring of 2000 after graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Crop and Soil Sciences and is currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Research Administration. While at MSU she became interested in research while working with the Weed Science Department doing field, greenhouse and lab research work in corn and soybeans. Growing up on a cash crop farm in Central Michigan, she has been in agriculture her entire life. Zelinko and her husband Ryan farm in Central Michigan using Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizers.

Located at AgroLiquid’s North Central Research Station, she manages the field crop research program focusing on experiment establishment, data management and summarization. As a part of the Agronomic Sciences team, Zelinko has years of experience recommending AgroLiquid and working with growers to help them achieved their optimum yield goals.

Tim Duckert, Field Agronomy Research Manager

Tim started at the North Central Research Station in March 2012. He comes with many years of experience in field research mainly involving sugarbeets and dry beans. Tim grew up on a large family farm in Michigan’s thumb and worked 5 years on a large farm in Northern Illinois. Tim has a Crop Production Certificate and a Bachelors’ degree in Crop and Soil Science from Michigan State University.

Dr. Brian Levene, Specialty Crop Research Manager

Dr. Levene joined AgroLiquid in the spring of 2006 to head up specialty crop research for the company. He grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa and received his PhD from Iowa State University in 1995. Dr. Levene’s research efforts include fruits, vegetables, perennials and other specialty crops.
