Dear  Friends  and  Colleagues:

I  am  pleased  to  be  serving  as  the  President  of  the  Colorado  Counseling  Association  for  the  2014-2015  term.  Like  many  of  you  I  I  am  pleased  to  be  serving  as  the  President  of  the  Colorado  Counseling  Association  for  the  2014-2015  term.  Like  many  of  you  I  have  enjoyed  my  time  working  within  this  beautiful  state.  I  received  my  bachelor's  degree  in  psychology  from  Fort  Lewis  College,  master  of  arts  degree  in  counseling  from  Regis  University,  have  worked  within  therapeutic  child  care  facilities  and  private  practice  settings,  and  am  now  building  an  organization  for  whole  person  wellness.  For  the  past  five  years  I  have  particularly  enjoyed  volunteering  with  CCA  as  a  governing  council  member.  For  me,  I  have  felt  more  connected  to  what  is  going  on  in  our  state  and  throughout  the  country  as  well  as  better  positioned  to  help  increase  resources  provided  to  those  who  are  preparing  to  or  are  throughout  the  country  as  well  as  better  positioned  to  help  increase  resources  provided  to  those  who  are  preparing  to  or  are  already  busy  serving  others.

During  our  recent  (June,  2014)  annual  Leadership  Summit  we  agreed  upon  three  primary  goals  for  this  next  year:

  1.  To  position  ourselves  financially  within  the  next  year  to  successfully  pursue  hiring  an  Executive  Director  so  as  to  expand  organizational  leadership  beyond  capabilities  of  a  one  term  volunteer  president.     2.  To  increase  support  offered  from  administrative  consultant  from  part  to  half  time  (20  hours  per  week)  believing  this  will  increase  success  of  goal  number  one.     3.  To  enhance  membership  benefits.  From  year  to  year  we  have  asked  ourselves  the  same  question,  "why  join  CCA?"  Beyond  its  annual  conference,  what's  in  it  for  our  members?

I  am  proud  to  report  that  over  the  past  few  years  CCA  has  been  positioning  itself  to  really  begin  delivering  enhanced  benefits  to  our  constituents.  In  an  effort  to  reach  more  areas  of  the  state  connecting  students,  new  and  working  professionals,  affiliate  professionals,  and  retirees  of  the  industry,  we  will  begin  offering  limited  grant  monies  to  active  members  within  different  regions  for  the  purpose  of  networking,  events,  and  other  approved  activities  by  way  of  application  (Coming  Soon).

CCA  is  committed  to  increasing  marketing  visibility  of  those  looking  to  build  and  expand  upon  their  private  practices  and  CCA  is  committed  to  increasing  marketing  visibility  of  those  looking  to  build  and  expand  upon  their  private  practices  and  organizations  they  represent.  CCA  was  recently  awarded  $120,000  by  Google  for  the  purpose  of  online  advertising.  This  allows  CCA  to  spend  $10,000  per  month  promoting  our  membership  directory  to  those  looking  to  find  mental  health  services  throughout  the  state  of  Colorado.

CCA  is  expanding  upon  its  recognition  of  those  who  are  making  a  difference  in  our  field  both  within  and  beyond  scholastic  CCA  is  expanding  upon  its  recognition  of  those  who  are  making  a  difference  in  our  field  both  within  and  beyond  scholastic  achievement.  We  have  recently  approved  a  $10,000  budget  for  the  purpose  of  grants,  scholarships,  and  other  awards  to  be  offered  to  deserving  members  at  our  annual  awards  ceremony  within  the  2015  conference  next  April  9th  and  10th.

Speaking  of  the  annual  conference,  we  are  aiming  mile  high  this  year  by  contracting  Dr.  Dan  Siegel  for  a  full  day  (9-3pm)  training  on  day  one  of  our  conference.  To  increase  opportunity  for  more  people  to  attend  we  have  secured  the  Colorado  Convention  Center  as  our  venue.Equally  as  important  is  our  newly  approved  membership  and  conference  rates.  Approaching  this  with  a  glass  half  full  perspective  Equally  as  important  is  our  newly  approved  membership  and  conference  rates.  Approaching  this  with  a  glass  half  full  perspective  CCA  membership  ranges  between  $30  and  $60  offering  additional  discounts  for  groups  of  10,  25,  50,  and  over  100.  CCA  Conference  pricing  will  range  between  $65-$95  for  the  entire  two  day  conference.  Our  intention  was  to  walk  away  from  this  decision  feeling  confident  in  the  question,  "can  you  afford  NOT  to  be  a  member  and  attend  the  conference  next  year?"  Hopefully  your  answer  is  "No,"  in  which  case,  thank  you  for  joining  or  renewing  your  membership  and  see  you  at  the  conference,  if  not  sooner  at  any  of  our  other  wonderful  events  happening  soon!

Warmly,Sean  Boyd,  MA,  LPCSean  Boyd,  MA,  LPC
