The Center

the Center for Bioethics & human Dignity (CBhD) is a bioethics research center at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, that explores the nexus of biomedicine, biotechnology, and our common humanity. Within a Judeo-Christian Hippocratic framework, we anticipate, interpret, and engage the pressing bioethical issues of our day. As a center of rigorous research, theological and conceptual analysis, charitable critique, and thoughtful engagement, we bring clarity to the complex. Our summer conference is one of the premiere ways the Center highlights our bioethical engagement.

Cutting-edge innovations in medicine, science, and technology offer to improve health and quality of life, transforming lives in genuinely beneficial ways. Yet, these powerful advances also raise critical challenges in their implications for our individual and common humanity.

Join us as we examine the ethical dimensions of rapidly evolving arenas of medical and scientific research that continue to stretch the limits of contemporary bioethics, and as we explore fundamental questions of how science and science policy can function in the service of human flourishing for a medically and technologically sophisticated age.

Plenary speaker topics include: moral medicine amidst scientific revolutions; stem cells and regenerative medicine; affective computing & social robotics; genetics and gene therapy; moral enhancement; challenges at the frontlines of religion, science, and ethics; and emerging issues in the broader context of technology.
