The most successfulhead coach in CalPoly softball program

history, three-time Big WestConference Coach of theYear selection Jenny Con-don enters her 11th seasonin 2015. Having directed CalPoly to Big West titles andNCAA Tournament appear-ances in 2007 and 2009,Condon’s 265 career victo-ries at Cal Poly rank as theninth highest total by a BigWest head coach and thesecond highest total by anyMustang coach in school his-tory. Condon’s 116 confer-ence victories also rank 10thin Big West history. The Big West's represen-tative to the NFCA Division IHead Coaches Committee,Condon became the 11th BigWest coach to earn 200 vic-tories at a member institutionduring Cal Poly's final gameof the 2011 season. UnderCondon, Cal Poly has fin-ished in the top half of theBig West standings seventimes. Individually, Condon hashelped produce 40 All-BigWest selections at Cal Poly, seven Big West Player of theYear honorees, seven NFCAAll-West Region selectionsand one All-America selec-tion.

Under Condon, the Mus-tangs have found successon and off the field. In 10previous seasons, Cal Polyplayers have earned 35 BigWest All-Academic honors –an average of 3.5 Mustangsper season. Condon's programs havebeen especially adept in de-fending Bob Janssen Field, having compiled a 105-80(.567) home record underher guidance. Included inthat mark is a program-record 19-game home win-ning streak from May 9,2008 to May 2, 2009. The 2014 season provedto be another banner yearfor the Mustangs with theprogram finishing 33-19overall and one game shortof capturing the Big Westtitle and the conference’s au-tomatic NCAA Tournamentinvitation. Highlighted bySierra Hyland’s selection asBig West Pitcher of the Yearand Freshman Pitcher of theYear, seven Mustangsearned all-conferencepraise. The 2009 season provedto be the finest effort in CalPoly's 21-year Division Itenure as the Mustangs es-tablished single-season pro-gram records for overallwinning percentage (.774),conference winning percent-age (.857), conference victo-ries (18), fewest conferencedefeats (three) and fewestoverall defeats (12) en routeto capturing a second BigWest title and a berth in the

NCAA Tournament. TheMustangs, who also madeprogram history by rising ashigh as No. 21 in the USAToday/NFCA poll, producedtheir first NCAA Tournamentvictories at the Division Ilevel and reached the cham-pionship round of the Stan-ford regional. Behind AnnaCahn's Big West Pitcher ofthe Year honor, a program-record nine Mustangs gar-nered all-conference praise. Prior to the 2009 cam-paign, Cal Poly's 2007 sea-son ranked as themost-notable year in pro-gram history. Aside fromcapturing the program's firstBig West title and securingits first NCAA Tournamentberth at the Division I level,Cal Poly established then-single-season records fortotal victories (39) and over-all (.696) and conference(.778) winning percentage. After dealing defeats to No.12 Washington, No. 6 North-western and No. 9 Stanford,Cal Poly opened Big Westplay with eight-straight victo-ries. The Mustangs, who ledthe conference race wire-to-wire, closed the regular sea-son by winning five of theirfinal six games and a 3-2 vic-tory against Pacific on May11 not only secured the BigWest crown, but also pro-vided Condon her 100th ca-reer victory. Headlined byBig West Player of the Yearselection Lisa Modglin – whoalso doubled as Cal Poly'sfirst NFCA All-America pick

in nine years – Cal Polyplaced eight Mustangs onthe 2007 all-conferenceteam. A standout player in thecollegiate and internationalarenas, Condon's influenceat Cal Poly was felt instantlyas her inaugural 2005 squadposted a 35-16 mark. TheMustangs went 15-6 in BigWest play and the second-place finish was, at the time, the best showing in programhistory. Cal Poly's 27-23record in 2006 was backedby an 11-7 Big West markthat guaranteed a third-placefinish. The record solidifiedthe program's first back-to-back winning campaignssince the 1996 (23-19) and1997 (37-17) seasons. Condon began her coach-ing career at UNLV in 1994,assisting the Rebels to athird-place finish at the 1995WCWS. She relocated toNorthwestern in 1997 beforebeginning a two-year stintwith Oregon State in 1998.The following season, theBeavers recorded a school-record 47 wins and ad-vanced to the NCAATournament for the first timein program history.
