Architecture & Design

Unit provides architecture and design services from early stages through to planning. Our approach is to utilise our intimate local knowledge and our collective design expertise, to create propositions which emerge from the bottom up. Our proposals seek to address the needs of the emerging neighbourhood and to create locally distinctive places to live and work. We treat design, tenure and policy as equal factors in forming our architectural propositions.

Design servicesUnit provides architecture and planning consultancy services to developers and local stakeholders. The services provided include the drafting of design briefs, feasibility studies, and preparation of planning applications.

Unit is able to write tailored design briefs which are appropriate to context, and define important design challenges and priorities for designers and architects to address.

Unit is able to carry out feasibility studies for clients interested in specific local sites. Our early concept proposals strive to deal appropriately with residential provision, workspace design, public / semi public space and long term management solutions. Unit’s design focus is to fundamentally integrate current residents, businesses and tenants into the design and management approach.
