2015 Youth Essay Contest Ω

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund continues

its yearly Youth Essay Contest celebrating the

Second Amendment as an integral part of the

Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Essays will be judged in two categories: Senior

(grades 9-12) and Junior (grades 8 and below),

with separate cash prizes awarded to the

winners in each category. First place cash prizes

are $1,000, $600 for second place, $200 for

third place, and $100 for fourth place. The

contest is open to all students enrolled, or who

will be enrolled, in an elementary, junior high,

The Dream Award is Scholarship America’s

renewable scholarship program for financially

needy students who have overcome barriers

and have successfully started their college

education. Awards were made to students

selected from across the nation who are

entering their second year or higher of

education beyond high school; the scholarships

are both renewable and increase in amount

each year. Scholarship America awarded nearly

$110,000 to this second group of students, with

scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $15,000

based on the individual student’s financial need.

Each student’s award will increase by $1,000

each year to help them successfully finish

school and earn their degrees.
